Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Where does your baby nap?

My baby girl just turned 5 months. She sleeps in her crib at night. During the day she sleeps downstairs in her swing. I tried to have her nap in crib during the day but she will only sleep for 40 min. In her swing, she can sleep 2 hours. I know  she will outgrow this swing soon so I am just going to have to switch to crib. My sister just sent me an article that a baby should only be in a swing for 30 min a day. Should I just pack it away? Its one of those snugabunny ones that are so comfy looking.

Re: Where does your baby nap?

  • I used the swing when my son was younger for naps, but the past couple months I have only used it occasionally. He was the same way as far as sleeping longer in it than anywhere else, but I wanted to break him of that knowing he will outgrow it soon and I didn't want it to become a habit of being swung to sleep. He isn't a great napper, average nap is about 40-45 minutes, but I personally would rather have shorter naps than have him be in the swing too much.

  • My DS used to nap during the day in his swing downstairs up until about 3 months old, but he kind of out grew it. He is now almost 5 months and has been napping during the day in his crib in his room.

  • In my arms exclusively.
  • He naps in his Rock and Play or occasionally in my arms.  He sleeps at night in his Pack and Play and will eventually transition to his crib.
  • LO napped in the RNP for the first 5 weeks. She's since been napping and sleeping in her crib.
  • DD naps in the RnP for now.

  • In his crib, carriage or ergo. I shoot mostly for the crib though.
  • He naps in his crib or in his pack and play during the day. I have almost officially put away the swing. He is 4 months.

  • My 4 month lo sleeps in his crib. He grew out of the bassinet so I had to move him to crib. First started his naps in there for almost 2 weeks then moved him into there for bedtime. He won't sleep anywhere else which makes it tough if we aren't home though.
  • LO used to nap awesome in the swing. He's almost 6 months old and is quickly outgrowing the swing so I've been doing the transition to the crib for naps (he sleeps in the crib at night).
It's been a little rough but it has to be done. Some days he will sleep 2 hours in the crib, yesterday was 40 mins.
I'm packing up the swing this weekend :(
  • She used to only nap in the swing. But recently I just started sitting on the rocking chair and feeding her and rocking her until she fell asleep. At first would sleep short times. With time she slept longer and longer. Try to make it quiet and peaceful in there. I still put her in the swing once a day. For one of three naps she takes a day. Just do what works for you and your baby every child is different.
