NBR:Dirt Cake

Not sure why it's called cake, because it's not, but this stuff is insanely good!

My coworker made it for our Halloween dessert contest and I'm in love. It's a mix of pudding, cool whip, and cream cheese, which doesn't sound as good as it actually is.

If you haven't ever tried it, you must! I just bought the ingredients and can't wait to make it tomorrow.

ETA Also crushed up Oreos, that's what makes the '"dirt".

    OMG! I love dirt cake. My aunt used to make it for Thanksgiving every year. The dish was gone by the end of the evening. I even had it for a birthday or 2 because of my birthday falling on halloween. Added worms and fake spiders for decorations

    My brother has requested dirt cake for his birthday cake every.single.year since he was a kid. He's now 34 years old. And my mom always buries gummy worms in the "dirt"- my favorite part!

    I have made this every year for my sons' birthdays and they love it. Actually we all love it and it's so easy. We don't usually use the cream cheese though, just multi layers of the rest.

    We always called it Dirt Dessert, and it is easily my favorite sweet item of all time, and I have a notorious sweet tooth. OMG, now I want some really badly!

    Yes! We always added the gummy worms for the little kids for our elementary :)

    Been a long time since I have posted anything on here, but I have to respond to this! We call it Dirt Pudding and you should try it with white chocolate pudding (I make this stuff all of the time for various events and there is never any left over). I have used lots of pudding flavors, but white chocolate is the best!

    ^^ yep, I know it as dirt pudding too. It is yummy, although I've only had it with regular chocolate pudding.

    Nom! My mom brings it to picnics in a sand bucket with a shovel. So she doesn't have to worry about bringing home her bowl. My new obsession is dump cakes. So gooooood.
