Cold weather gear...help!!

I am desperately trying to find a good solution for the cold weather that is starting to drift in here. At DD's daycare they go outside until it's 30 degrees (F), so she needs something that will keep her reasonably warm. They only go out for about 10 minutes and they don't take them out if it's really windy or anything like that. I've been all over the 'net today trying to find something that won't break the bank, but will keep her warm and is decent quality. I've been looking at the Sherpa/Fleece bunting suits that Carters and Old Navy offer and they look to be a good thickness for the car seat, but I'm not sure they will keep her warm outside. The one piece bunting "snow suits" are really expensive, between $54-$120 and they look uncomfortable, like she won't really be able to move her arms and legs around in them.

What is everyone else (in a cold weather state) doing?

I don't have a real answer for you other that a suggestion. I would not worry about the car seat part of it, I would suggest buying a warm coat/snow suit and leaving it at daycare for them to use. That way you do not have to worry about it being too puffy for a carseat. 10 minutes at 35 degrees can get really cold.

Also Old Navy has fleece booties that we bought for LO for the walks from the car to inside places.

We have a snowsuit that is thick cotton and fleece. It cannot be used in the car seat but we will use it if we take her outside at all on a short walk or something. I will also bring it to daycare in the winter because they take the babies on short outdoor stroller rides too. We got it as a gift so I don't know how much it cost, but it is from the Target Carter's brand (Just One You??? Something like that) so it was probably a reasonable price.

@mommatotwo2 It is the second one, except it's white with polka dots and penguins on it. It's pretty thick so it should keep her toasty warm in the snow!

My inlaws just bought us this lil number... it's got holes for the carseat straps but I'm still thinking of modifying it further because it still is a lil thick...it's from target.
