Of the 9 mature eggs that fertilized we were down to 3 "good" eggs on day 3. I will have my transfer tomorrow (day 5) and won't know an update until just before our procedure... I'm kind-of stressing. I'm so afraid that we won't have any left by tomorrow! I'm also stressing about whether to put one or two back in... She said the 3 good eggs were a Level 2 (Level 1 being the best) and she hoped that they would be blasts by tomorrow. If they're not they might push me to a day 6 transfer. Does anyone know of any resources showing the % pregnancy rate based on the egg grade and how many transferred? I know my clinic had a sheet on this and of course I can't find it anywhere or anywhere on the web. Thanks for your help!
Re: UPDATE- from 9 to 3...
You should be able to find your clinic success rates here https://sart.org/find_frm.html. As far as embryo grade success rates, I don't know if there is such a thing. There are several different grading systems out there and it can vary from clinic to clinic. My IVF 1 clinic used a different grading system than the clinic we did the FET with. We had our embies shipped from CO to NC.
Its so hard to try to estimate what will happen in IVF. I'd do what you're comfortable with, in terms of how many to transfer. Many people try to avoid multiples due to the fact that the pregnancy is very high risk. Does your RE have a preference? Sometimes they'll suggest only transferring one if the quality is high.
We did IVF in the summer of 2010. I have one ovary. 20 retrieved, 16 fertilized and by day 5 we had 5 strong embryos. We transferred two B quality (A's being the best) embryos on day 5. We were given a 65% chance of success and a 25% chance of twins. Both stuck, we have 2.5 year old twins. We just attempted a FET on 10/1 with the remaining embryos. Two were B quality and the third one was considered poor quality. We transferred the two good ones as the third was arresting. One stuck and I miscarried @ 6w2d. Same quality and same # from the fresh and the frozen with very different results. I don't mean to tell you that to scare you at all, just to show how widely things can vary.
Hoping your embies are blasts by your transfer and that you have a sticky one in the bunch! Good luck! Keep us posted!
