Lotion recommendation?

We are having to give LO a bath every night because of his helmet wearing. We do not use soap every time but he is still getting very dry skin. He hates getting lotion put on. I am not sure if it is the scent or the feel. I have tried the pink Johnson and Johnson and Burt's Bee's Lavender Calming. He is not a fan.

Anyone have a recommendation for a non-scent or low scent lotion?

Re: Lotion recommendation?

  • We use Aveeno Baby fragrance free daily moisture lotion and it has really helped with his dry skin. We also use the Aveeno eczema lotion when he gets rashy or dry patches.

  • We use the regular Burt's Bees, not the lavender. It does have a fragrance, but M doesn't seem to even notice it. It worked better than J&J in the early days when her skin was really flaky.

  • Babyganics fragrance free is good.

This is what we use and I love it.

  • I try and trick him when putting on the lotion and do it when I am drying him off. As soon as the lotion touches his body I get the 'what are you doing to me' face of horror.  :-/

  • California Baby makes a fragrance free lotion that I like.

  • My MIL is a nurse and recommended Nutraderm when I asked her about lotion when he was a newborn. It's for dry and sensitive skin and dermatologist recommended. The problem was I had trouble finding it anywhere so I had to order it from Amazon. I got the original formula. A little goes a long way. I bought a 16 oz pump bottle and gave only used maybe 1 1/2 ounces of it and I bought it when he was like 1 month old.

Also we started using the Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash with Oatmeal and that gets his skin super soft. I love that too.

  • We are Aveeno fans too. My favorite is Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Moisture Cream. It's also fragrance free.
  • Cetaphil too. I warm it up in my hands then apply. We are all rashy over here
  • I like aveeno but we also have Vanicream that our pedi recommended for DS1. Its recommended for babies with eczema or sensitive skin as it is free of like 6 things found in other lotions. Our Targets carryy it but we had to ask for it from behind the pharmacy counter
  • CeraVe. Cream, not lotion. I read on an eczema forum that it's great for all ages. My pedi was impressed with how much it cleared up her eczema. When she has no issues I use Burt's bees. Love the smell.

I'd put a Movember mustache fail, but then
you'd all have to look at it until February.

I put a couple of drops of baby oil in the bath, it seems to keep LO's skin from getting dry.

    Hmmm never thought of that!

  • We slather him with aquafor (actually, the Target brand) before bed. It's super greasy, but under his pj's, it's fine, and it keeps him from getting really dry.
