Stretch Marks...

Finally spotted my first stretch marks today at 36 weeks. I had made it this far and thought I could get away clean even though I heard that slathering on the belly butter doesn't work. Yes, this thread is just a small pity party for myself... Was anyone else holding onto false hopes? Haha!

Eh. I've had them from pretty much the beginning. They're not bad, but it definitely looks like a lion attacked my sides and belly. I'm a tiger damn it, I earned these stripes.

I kinda wish they'd shown up earlier so I would have had the right expectations. My husband called them "battle scars" :P

They are sneaky that way. Mine are under the belly so I didn't notice them at first because my giant bump is in the way.

I'm almost 39 weeks and haven't gotten any yet which completely baffles me. I still have terrible ones from puberty. I thought it was in my genes to get them. I'm not holding my breath though because I know my skin can't go much longer. If he gets much bigger, I think I'll be getting my battle scars too. If it makes you feel any better I have gotten terrible varicose veins and hemorrhoids, yay!!!

I'm 36 weeks too and awaiting the day until my first appears.. It's probably right around the corner.. still holding onto false hopes though.. oh well

I'm in the clear so far! But one if my girlfriends kindly informed me that she didn't have any until 39 weeks with her 1st pregnancy and then she had a million over night - I'll be 39 weeks Monday!

( it's a race - who will be here 1st, baby or marks!!

I've yet to get any not that I'd really care but I had a friend also tell me she didn't get any until the last two weeks then they appeared out of nowhere. So, we'll see.

I didn't get any with my first. Then, I foolishly thought I'd be in the clear with our second daughter. Man was I wrong. I got them all over with her! This is our third and so far I haven't seen any new ones but I am not holding my breath.

I noticed my first stretch mark the other night. It popped up on my inner thigh. I didn't notice it right away, so I have no idea how long it's been there, but that area was itchy like crazy and when I took a mirror down there to figure out what was wrong I saw it and thought 'here we go!' So far none on the belly, so we'll see if I get away without any. My mom only got one on her belly and it got bigger with each kid. So maybe this is my one? :-?

I thought that I MAY get lucky. My last 2 pregnancies I didn't get any, this 3rd pregnancy is twins and I was good until last week which was week 35 and suddenly they appeared and have gone wild since then.
I was upset at first, now I'm fine with it. The part I'm not fine with is how itchy and painful they are! It feels like someone rubbed Fiberglass on my belly and there is no relief. No cream or oil helps!!!

Ooh, mine aren't painful or itchy yet. Maybe they itched when I didn't notice them or something! I hope it gets better soon for you.

It doesn't sound like it's too common. I've asked friends about what they did to relieve the discomfort but none of them had this issue either.
The only thing that has somewhat helped was putting a bag of frozen peas over them, however the babies didn't seem to like that

My c section is tomorrow, there is finally an end!

I had none with my first, but have them with this pregnancy. My mom said she was the same way, and they eventually disappeared. Here's to hoping I follow in her footsteps!!

With my DD I got my first, and only stretch nark at 38w. I had her at 38w 6d and I was so furious, haha

After I had her, I lost sixty pounds and then they sprouted up every where! I calm them my " shrink marks" because I didn't have them while I was fat, lol.

With this lo I've got no new ones but my old ones are still there. I don't worry about them much because they are pale white, but they make my skin itch something terrible, so I slather on the belly butter just to help with the itching.

I got like one stretch mark with my first. None with this one. It helps to put cocoa butter on your stomach.

I've heard (from my snarky sister) that they don't show up until after birth. What a bummer! Just when I thought I was home free
