I've been having this really weird experience with dogs since announcing my pregnancy. We're not dog owners, but I teach private voice and most of my students have a dog, and since telling the families it's like the dogs know. They come into the room where I'm teaching, circle my feet, and sit down next to me for the duration of the lesson. I told DH about it and he was intrigued and wanted to know if any of you have experienced something similar. Doesn't count if you own a dog and YOUR dog does it - but can your friends' or clients' pups sense your pregnancy?

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

Also my friend whose housemate has a female dog recently miscarried and the dog didnt leave her side for a few days.
I don't think it's necessarily true that males don't notice.
With my first LO, I stayed at a friends' place. They said I would not be bothered by their cat at night because it hated people.
It slept with me every night. It followed me all day. It was male.
With LO#2 my ILs have 2 male cats. They always avoid me. And they hate each other.
They would take turns laying against my belly or on my lap.
This time, I have a male kitten who normally doesn't snuggle me. But he has decided they he will lay as close to my belly as possible.
And the ILs cats are doing the same. I'm surprised they haven't made the connection yet. They probably won't.
Lol.
I've had friendly female felines also. As well as dogs, but most of my family and friends have cats.
I kind of feel bad that they have no idea what is in store for them in a few months. Lots of crying and late night and early mornings.
Hopefully they will adjust quickly though.

I have two dogs (10 year old Jack Russell Mix- Willow and 5 year old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix with Aussie-Izzie) and they def know I am pregnant. When I am home Izzie just be by my side at all times, she is more aware of everything going on around her and me, and she is more protective over the household. When its bed time Izzie feels that she must lay in bed with me and my partner, between my legs with her head on my belly and willow must lay by my feet. Talk about a crowded bed!?
