1st Trimester

No longer a secret:(

So that's that! My whole family and all our friends know we're expecting. Wanted to keep it quiet until the 12 week mark but that didn't happen. I told my nan and apparently she was that excited she spread the word like wildfire. Now I'm praying that every thing goes well. How many if you ladies has this happened to? It's annoying but not much I can do now.

Re: No longer a secret:(

  • I told my grandma, knowing she would tell the whole family. Sure its annoying because its your news to share, but feed off of everyone's happiness for you. You will feel much better that way.

  • We told my in laws last night. My MIL immediately got up and walked across the restaurant to one of her friends and told her. I was slightly annoyed but this will be her first grandbaby and I know she's beyond excited. My parents won't be any better so keeping it quiet isn't going to happen. I told DH that I really hope everything goes ok bc I really don't want my miscarriage (if it happens, I pray it won't) to have to be spread all over the county like I know this pregnancy will be.

  • I'm telling the blabber mouth of my family (my aunt) purposely on the 12 week mark so that I don't have to make a ton of phone calls. Is that wrong of me?? Haha

My parents and my SO parents were the first we told and then we've told our siblings and a couple of close friends. Unfortunately, on of SO friends told his wife who announced it at her daughters baptism. Thankfully we don't share many mutual friends. I was pretty upset about that!

  • I wanted to keep it quiet too, but I can't believe how many of my friends have been asking me if I'm pregnant. I'm getting annoyed. I'm only 5.5 weeks and I didn't want so many people to know. Thankfully my MIL doesn't know yet or the whole world would.

  • That would legit make me cry. Like, it's my first and it's a big deal, it is MY news to share and I told you in confidence. We haven't told very many yet, we wanted to wait until after our first doctor appointment, but I knew I had to tell my mom and BFF right away. We have been so excited though that we have been letting it "slip" to a few people here and there. And by "we" I mean "me," haha

  • I accidentally spilled the beans to my brother and his girlfriend, who are also expecting. I was so afraid she would say something to my parents, but both kept their mouths shut! I'd be pretty upset too
  • Ugh!  There's a girl at work who I told early on because I mentioned to her that I would be taking a pregnancy test since I had a feeling that I may be pregnant.  I told her to tell absolutely no one, and lo and behold she ended telling a couple of people.  I was FURIOUS!!!  I was especially mad since one of our co-workers that she told is kind of buddy buddy with our boss and our boss was the last person that I wanted to know.  There's things that I have to figure out before I talk to her (like if I'm even coming back to work after having the baby) and I didn't want her asking me a bunch of questions that I can't answer yet.  The girl who blabbed her mouth feels bad now, especially after I ripped her a new one, but what sucks is I thought I could trust her.  I told her that I would never tell her anything personal since I can no longer trust her with information.  As she should, she feels terrible.

@livelaughlove88, that's exactly how I feel!  It's MY news, not yours and it's up to me as to whether I want people to know yet.  I know that peole are genuinely happy for me and are so excited that they want to spread the news, but in a way it's like stealing my thunder.  Let me be the one to say something, not you.  Sheesh!
