btdt wedge in crib (spit up)

LO has been in the rnp since he came home and is 8 weeks old. He has napped 3 times in his crib but I think this is going to be a difficult transition. I listened to another poster on here and got a wedge and rolled up some blankets for either side under the fitted sheet to make DS feel cozier. (He is on soy formula because of spitting up/gas etc) do those that used a wedge think it was helpful? Did it help e reflux? Any advice would be helpful

  • @skalbrecht FYI it was 16.99 at BRU

  • We just bought one this morning after a recommendation from our pedi. I'm curious to see if others have had any success...we're crossing our fingers that it works!

  • I believe I was the one who recommended the wedge, but my DD never had reflux. We used it solely to ease the transition into the crib and for whenever our LO's are sick. It was definitely useful for those purposes.

  • We bought one on Amazon. It helps, but not as good for reflux as the RnP.

  • DS1 had horrible reflux as a baby, and was on soy formula as well.  We loved our crib wedge.  It was definitely a life saver, since he would only sleep on an incline. He used it for the whole year, and then whenever he would get sick until we moved him to his bed.

  • Hm. We just put books under one side of the mattress.  I think the idea for rolled up towels is smart though because DD moves and is sometimes all the way off the incline part (even in her swaddle - that girl is nuts!).

I can't really say if it's helped - we started Zantac just a few days after so I don't know which was the factor that helped or if it's a combo.  She has slept much better though. I see no reason to risk not using it!
  • @JamieWM how did last night go?
  • Ugh it didn't. I am feeling a bit crazy w him in the other room at night but know I need to!!!!

  • Bummer! I'm sorry to hear that. It is so hard... We put Chey in her room from night one until her spitting up got so severe around 4 weeks. She's been in our room the last few weeks...and I'm dreading trying to put her back in her room, even though it's right next door and we have a video monitor.
