Anyone else decorating??

Anyone else setting up your Christmas decorations early? Normally we wait til the day after Thanksgiving, but I'm having DH go to the attic when he gets home to get our decorations down. I think it will be much easier to set up without a newborn... I trust DH to take down the decorations, but if he puts them up they will look terrible.

Re: Anyone else decorating??

  • I have my MIL on standby to do our tree. I'm sure she will help DH do the lights outside too.

  • I told my mom she has to decorate my house when she comes to visit baby.  She loves decorating, so she's fine with that!
  • I'm probably going to be lazy and not decorate this year - setting up now sounds like a great idea, but cleaning up in January when I'm supposed to be going back to work does not.
  • We will travel about 2 hours south this year as we normally do, on Christmas day to go to my Brother In Laws house.  We haven't decorated for years as we dont' spend Christmas eve or Christmas day here anyways.  Going to take advantage of the last year that we will not decorate.  Next year, decorating all over and not travelling anywhere, I want my son to be able to stay at his own house all day on Christmas day.

  • I just can't bring myself to put up Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving! I keep trying to talk myself into it. I think I will just do it while LO is in the swing or on a weekend when DH will be home to help watch her. Of course when we do it is up in the air since I'm due the 24th and Thanksgiving is the 28th.
  • I'm waiting.  I figure decorating without a big ol' belly will be easier.  Plus it makes me nervous to stand on chairs with baby still in me and I'll probably have to to reach some places.  DH can always hold LO or baby can chill in the swing.
I decorated mid November one year and got bored of the decorations by Christmas. =(
  • I think I'm going to start this weekend! I'm off work now too so it will give me something to do!!

YES! I freaking love Christmas and am very excited to have it in my house for two whole months. I don't care if I can set up when LO gets here, I'm getting ahead of the game and taking down boxes this weekend.  The bummer will be when we have to take it down and put it up sleep deprived.
  • We never got around to taking down our Christmas lights last year... :-S

We buy a living Christmas tree (they're only a few feet tall) and plant it when the holidays are over. We'll have to wait until those come out to decorate the tree. Already finished Christmas shopping though!

  • Yes!!
I got DH to take out all the boxes tonight and ready to go.
My c section is on Monday and my daughters LOVE decorating for Xmas so I thought it would be a fun thing to do with them since it's our last weekend with them before the twins are here! They're very excited!
  • I wish I could decorate now, but there is no way I could convince DH. :( he barely tolerates it as it is with me decorating after Thanksgiving. I love Christmas and decorating and everything about the holiday and he finds it all to be stupid or annoying. I hope having a LO around will change his mind. :)

  • I don't decorate for Christmas until at least Thanksgiving is over.  Right now the house is decorated for fall.
  • We're putting ours up next weekend so we don't have to worry about a new baby and Christmas decorations.

  • I was raised by a mama who felt decorating before Remembrance Day is disrespectful. (That's November 11th, for you non-Canadian lady)
My decorations will go up the next day though! Which is really only two weeks before I usually do.
