HCG trigger shot

So apparently I didn't ask enough questions when the nurse was telling me the meds I'm starting this month. I have no idea what this trigger shot thing is. Can someone please tell me? And the most important question is do I REALLY have to give it to myself?? That's what I've been reading on here. I seriously can't do that and I don't trust my hubby to do it either! LOL

    A trigger shot is done 36 hours before IUI or Retrieval (sorry mobile) its am intramuscular shot and goes in your backside. Yes you have to give it at home. DH did mine but he did all my shots. It's a bit hard for you to reach around and is a tad painful but really kind of not hard to explain. It hurt but it's doable.

    I think IUI is 36 hours not sure. But we did my trigger 36 hours before retrieval.

    But I'm not doing IUI? I'm guessing it works the same way & I will just be having sex instead of doing IUI...

    My trigger is 250 Ovidrel and is given subcutaneously in the stomach. DH usually does mine, but won't be able to Monday so I have to do it myself  :-? 

    Two DDs 10/08 and 08/10, no primary IF
    TTC #3 since 10/2011 - dx unexplained/weak ovulation
     3 BFN clomid + TI cycles, 5 BFN clomid/gonal f IUIs, 1 mmc IUI
    2/19/2014 IVF #1 Unexpected low E2 (oversuppressed) -> increased to max doses = 3 or 4 follicles, converting to IUI
    BFFP Saw 1 beautiful heartbeat at 6w6d, follow up u/s at 9w showed mmc. Eff this.
    NTNP 5/2014-9/2014, OPKs and TI 10/2014 - 1/2015. 
    RPL testing all normal, AFC, AMH, and FSH all normal. 
    IVF 1.2 1/22/2014 natural cycle start, AFC 28, 300 gonal f/150menopur. 
    ER 2/3/15 14R 8M 3F w/ICSI Day 5 transfer on 2/8/15 of one "Grade A+" blast and have TWO frosties!

    This is probably right... I only know how it works with IVF.  The stomach shots are easy peasy though! (I personally can't watch a needle go in so my hubs did it) But they can't be easy to mess up or else they wouldn't let us do them at home! Good luck!

    @kndeckar if you are doing a trigger + TI, you should have sex on the day of your trigger, then again approx 36 hrs later. When you're doing TI you want to try to have the sperm already there waiting when the egg is released, so you want to have sex in advance. 

    Sub Q- right into your belly, you'll be able to do it yourself just fine. 

    IM- goes into your butt cheek, def ask your H to help. 

    Did you do Clomid this month too? Good luck.

    I am doing Femara. RE likes it better I guess. I will start it soon if AF ever shows!!

    @Mrs Castillo ANYTHING is better than clomid.

    TTC for 1.5 years with a crappy RE. 12 cycles with clomid (11 too many)
    New RE, 3 failed IUI's moving to IVF with ICSI
