Wake LO to feed during take off/landing?

If everything opens back up at LAX tomorrow, LO and I will be flying to visit my family back East. I have been told to feed him during take off and landing, but not sure if I need to wake him to do that if he is sleeping. Typically, any movement (car, stroller) puts him to sleep and hoping that's the case on the plane. I don't want to wake him if he is in a deep sleep because that typically leads to a very pissed off baby! For those who have flown with a baby, did you wake to feed or just let them sleep and were prepared with a bottle, just in case?

  • I've flown a few times with my first. He never needed to feed (or suck) during takeoff or landing. Good luck

  • I flew when LO was 2 mo. I just made sure he had a paci he was sucking on for the first flight. The 2nd flight he was asleep during takeoff and had no problems. The descent, he was awake and fussy. So I BF'd him. He calmed down and ate, then fell asleep.

He was a good little traveller. I do recommend bringing a small pillow. I propped my arm on it and held him. Without it's arm would have been very uncomfortable grinding against the armrest.

I would suggest feeding for take off & landing. Your LO will most likely fall asleep (or back to sleep) anyway. The sucking relieves a lot of pressure on their ears, and seemed to help my LOs immensely. IMO it's much easier to get them back to sleep than it is to console them when their little ears are hurting.

ETA I agree with PP about bringing a small pillow, life saver!
