Hello! I have a 16 month old son, and we're in the market for a new digital camera. We got a Kodak about a year before he was born and thought it was a great camera that would work well for a child based on reviews/speed etc. We have gotten decent pictures with this camera, but feel like it is a bit slow and it runs on AA batteries which makes it a little bulkier and hard ot throw in your pocket when you go out (not to mention it recently got knocked over at families house and has a small crack in it). All that being said, we are looking for a new camera and I was wondering if anyone LOVED there digital camera and had any suggestions. You all are obviously taking photos of kiddies and know that speed is important because my child never sits still and its so simple to miss a moment.
Other feature which is a must for me is allowing us to set the Aspect Ratio (so that we don't have to go through the extra time to crop photos when ordering or losing a little of each edge - this has been a huge time saver....I believe this is becoming more norm then when we got our last camera 3 years ago).
Desired feature is a camera whose photos do not need manual rotating after uploading to your computer for the vertical photos. It's such a waste of time, but if we had to could deal with rotating them.
We have a video camera so we aren't requirng super fancy video though most cameras have video capability.
We've tried purchasing a Panasonic (sorry I don't know the models as my hubby has done all the research) and a Canon but haven't been completely satisfied and returned them. Obviously all models of cameras are different, so hoping to get advice on what to look into further. Besides speed, we've felt that these cameras both gave us a bunch of blurry photos. You need to half push the button down to focus before taking the photo and while we try to remember and do it it is always a failure if we ask someone to take a picture for us or when you're in a rush to catch a shot. Thanks for your time!
