I, unfortunately, had a natural miscarriage on October 23rd.  I was 8 weeks along and very excited for our second child.  The loss was devastating and, as I'm sure many of you feel, I feel like I've been on a roller coaster for the past week and a half.  I have gone in a full circle and now want to start trying ASAP.  My doctor has been on vacation since Wednesday, so I have not been able to discuss what to do about trying to conceive again.  My HCG was 57 today- which is a week after it was initially tested at over 5000.  I believe you don't ovulate until you are less than 1- but is there a time line for how long you should wait to try to conceive after a natural miscarriage? I feel like this has been the worst timing ever with my doctor out of the office and I've had no support.

    I haven't gone completely through it yet (waiting for it to happen, got the news of no growth and heartbeat stopped yesterday, we decided to wait it out instead of D&C), but my doctor said my period would return in 4-6 weeks afterwards, and then we should wait 1 cycle before TTC. This is my first m/c.

    I would ask your doctor what he/she recommends based on your situation.

    My doctors both explained to wait 2 cycles because your uterine lining is low. Also, you're correct- you cannot ovulate unless your hcg is under 5. I think you have about two to three weeks until it goes down but no one is the same. I'm at 5 weeks post d&c 6.5 post miscarriage starting. I was 15 weeks ago and my hcg I'd at a 9 but still positive pregnancy test.

    I'm so sorry for your loss. Each story is different and I don't believe anyone on here will tell you anything but to listen to your dr. I had a mm/c with D&C at 12 weeks. I was originally told 1 cycle but now post complications we were told 2. GL and i hope you get the okay to TTC quickly

    I'm sorry for your loss. I had a d&c and was told to wait one cycle and my period should return 4-8 weeks post OP. Unfortunately there is not one answer - I think you should discuss it with your dr. Seems to depend on the person and situation. Hopefully you will get the green light soon. Best of luck!

    i also just completed a natural miscarriage (also 8 weeks along) and hcg levels were at 76 thursday. my doctor said for health reasons wait a cycle to start trying (in order to allow uterine lining to recover.) and for mental reasons to wait two. i really want to start ASAP and fill that void so i plan to start after one. here's hoping we both see our levels decline quickly and also get our cycles soon after that.
