Play dates???

DD was invited for a play date with one of the kids from her kiddie gym, which will be our first "date" with someone whose parents I am not already friends with. It's going to be at their house. If it were an adult social thing, I would normally take a hostess gift. Does that apply for a play date too? Does it matter if it is the nanny and not the parents who will be there (obv. they know the nanny invited us over and are ok with it). Am I just over-thinking this? LOL
