4 days post cerclage removal, still no sign of labor!!!
I slept good again.. :-)
Today dh and I will do a little shopping. Try and get some dilation going on. He wants to buy a wipe warmer. I am preparing a small bag for LO, realized I didn't get any hats and mittens at my shower so I need to buy that. We also need a space heater because my apartment is old and gets pretty cold in the winter. We also didn't get her bath supplies likes soap, lotion, qtips, etc. should be fun shopping for her today, I can't wait.
Qotd: I don't have any set plans, maybe head to my sister in law for a little.
My room is small so we will start LO off in a pack and play bassinet for 3months then hopefully be in a new apartment where we can transfer her in a crib.
So close kneenah so excited for u! Hopefully something will happen this weekend!
Didn't sleep to well last night. Hopefully tonight I will.
No plans this weekend. Couch bound, that's it. My parents are going to come over and make dinner tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be too exciting of a weekend. Very close to 28 weeks. 2 more days!
I think we will set the crib up in my room and LO Will sleep in there. We will see.
Have a wonderful weekend ladies!

@kneenah: I can't believe you're still hanging in there!! That's awesome! Enjoy your shopping trip.
I came home from the hospital yesterday and had cramping all day and night but once I passed out I slept well from total lack of sleep from my stay away.
I am still feeling crampy but am thinking/hoping that it is just an irritable uterus going into over drive. Does anyone else with irritable uterus have cramps throughout the day?
This weekend I am laying low...I'm going to avoid any visitors or any stimulation and hope to be feeling better soon. We also have the pack and play bassinet. I loved it with our first and will use it again with our second! She was in our room for a few months before going to her own room/crib. The changing table on it was so nice for those late night diaper changes.
I love to shop! Enjoy!
I slept okay not the best night but not the worse
No plans this weekend. No changes in status still hanging in there.
I plan on using a pack n play for the first couple months then hell go in the nursery.
@jandm are you on medication?

@jandm are you on medication?
No, I'm not on any medication right now. This all suddenly started happening at this level on Wednesday. I have been crampy at times but not in bouts that last for hours or a whole day. They aren't terribly uncomfortable but it scares me, which in turn makes me worry. I have been drinking a TON of water...literally 4-5 liters a day and it hasn't helped. I empty my bladder frequently and cannot be more strict with bed rest.
Jand: Are they cramps or contractions? If contractions you should discuss being put on procardia or something to help prevent them. You dont want it to start to effect your cervix..

I originally went into the hospital Wednesday for cramping, which turned out to be mild contractions every 3 min apart. They were able to subside on their own and it didn't change my cervix. I already have a very short cervix so I worry that if I let it go it'll turn out to be the kind of contractions that change my cervix, painful or not. When I spoke to my doctor about procardia she said she didn't think it would benefit me because it wouldn't stop true labor. I'm not sure why she wouldn't consider it considering that I have an IC, funneled to the stitch, very short cervix and am 28 weeks. Maybe because that was my first time feeling that way and my cervix didn't change?
@JandM- Wasn't your first child preterm, 27ish weeks? I would think with that history and your cervix they would put you are something. Are you on progesterone? When I had a + ffn they put me on progesterone immediately and then the next day I have a cervical US and they found the funneling and they gave me a script for Procardia just to try and prevent further shortening/dilation. I have shortened I little more but I have not dilated. I would think it wouldn't hurt for you to take Procardia or progesterone just to calm that uterus down. Cramping is not a good thing and maybe it would relieve that? I also don't have a cerlage but still most ppl with that history and a cerclage gets the medication.. Could you get a second opinion?

You should tell her you are well aware it wont stop labor but it can help maintain or prevent those mild contractions. It doesnt hurt to try instead of assume you wont benefit. Bring it up again to her. I also have IC and when i started to get mild contractions at 25wks i was given indomethacin take as needed up to 27wks. I never needed procardia because the cramps/contractions stopped but i would have been placed on them if they picked up again.
@Roses: I take a weekly progesterone shot 250mg. My daughter was premature and I am planning on speaking to my doctor about this again.
@kneenah: I was looking into something to take 'as needed'...is the indomethacin given only up to 27 weeks or did you just not need it after that? Are there any known risks to the baby? I am hoping this is just a temporary thing but if I could, I'd like to treat it.
Indomethacin cannot be given after 32 weeks. It can prevent some of the valves from closing and cause heart defects like PDA. So its only given before 32 weeks.

Thank you for the info Roses! I will put this one on my list to discuss with my doctor. I am thinking she is waiting to see if this will pass before prescribing anything but so far it has been persistent. I have read a lot about other people's irritable uterus' starting around 28 weeks, which is where I am at right now.
Hi everyone, I'm Paige. Can I join you?
I was admitted last night after a positive fFN, cervical funneling (33mm and more shortening with pressure) and frequent (painless) contractions. I'm 25w6d. I had my first steriod shot last night, a shot of terb and am now taking procardia. I'll see an MFM at some point today to measure my cervix and we'll go from there... Hoping for no change so I can go home!
A little intro... I have an almost two year old who was born at 34 weeks due to PPROM and PTL. My cervix was 23mm at 27 weeks and I had a positive FFN, contractions etc. I spent a week in the hospital and the rest at home on bed rest til I delivered. I'm on 17P this time, too.
I miss my husband and DD the hospital gives me anxiety after being here with the first pregnancy, but I know it's what's best for us right now. I am thinking of all of you, I admire your strength! I've been lurking and following along for awhile in anticipation of ending up here.
Anyway, I hope you'll have me! Sorry for the novel, thanks for reading
DS will sleep in a bassinet for the first month or so, then move to his room right across the hall. It seemed to work well with our first, so we'll see!
@Kneenah-Happy shopping! So exciting that you could safely go at any point now! @Roses-28 weeks!! Great milestone!! @JandM-I hope things calm down for you, 30 weeks is within reach! @Paige0328-Welcome! Sorry you have to be here, but it is a great support!
This morning we had a crazy rain storm and I woke up and there was water that leaked in through the baseboards and about 5 ft into my room! The maintenance guy came to clean up, but what a hazard! I'll be watching me step!
Nothing new, had a bit of a mental break down last night. I've been doing well, but after failling my one hour glucose test, I felt even more discouraged. I've been in the hospital 8 and a half weeks now and I miss my boys terribly. I feel like I've relinquished all control in my life (which is hard for me in general), and I am just missing out on life. I know this is where I have to be to get my DD here safely, but the closer I am getting to viability, the more I am climbing the walls. Any ideas on how to stay positive??
My DS's birthday and party are this weekend, and I am so sad to be missing it. I was considering asking to leave for the party, but I know if I went into labor I would never forgive myself. Hoping to live vicariously through facetime and pictures!
QOTD: we will do some presents and special dessert at the hospital tomorrow with my DSs. Sunday after the party my sister, BIL and nephews will stop in to visit.
DD will sleep in co sleeper in our room until I'm less paranoid and can put her in the nursery, 3 feet from our room ;-)
J&M- I send the recommendataion for Procardia, it's helped at least minimize my contractions (which is why I'm afraid to stop it today!). But two other easy things to try- sometimes when I have more of crampy feeling or the contractions are picking up, taking a couple tylenol calms my uterus down, so you could try that on your own. Also, take a Mg supplement at times (either as part of prenatal or just on it's own) has helped me a number of times when they seemed to be getting bad. My doctor said both are safe to use with my own judgement- for the Mg by itself, I take a 250mg pill- the only negative is that sometimes it makes me very tired, so it's good especially if you are having them at night and don't mind going to bed afterwards! Good luck!
Paige- you are certainly welcome here! Hope you get to go home soon.
Morgan- no real advice, but hang in there, you can do it!! Happy bday to your DS- just know that even though you won't be at the party, you are making this sacrifice right now not just for baby but for your whole family, including DS, and all will be ok soon enough!
As for me, didn't sleep the greatest last night, but oh well! Had an US today and LO is still measuring 2-3 weeks behind, but he's put on exactly an ounce a day (which is perfect) since our last US 3 weeks ago, so I'm very happy with that- estimated at 5lb 10 oz now at 36w1d. Taking my last procardia in 2 hours- kind of nervous but excited too to see what happens once it's out of my system! I also have a hair appt in a couple hours- thank goodness I can get all these grays concealed again! I'd love to make a quick shopping run this weekend to get a going home outfit for the baby, but we'll see how I feel. The OB told me I can come off bedrest on Monday, but I'm pretty sure he just said that so I don't go into labor over the weekend and he won't be called in, lol! I'm thinking a quick 10 minute trip to Kohls to find something cute likely isn't going to make or break anything at this point- it's going to happen when baby is ready, which is probably soon anyway! Oh, and the plan is to have baby sleep in the nursery in the crib from the start, but we'll see if that works out or we end up moving the pack N play into our room at nights for a while.
Here is a pic of me and my belly dressed up last night!
Jand- My doctor didnt allow me to continue indomethacin after 27wks because it can affect your fluid levels. I agree w/ sftbalbabe, try Tylenol in the meantime.
Paige: Sorry you have to join us but pull up a seat and keep little one cooking :0)
Morgan: So sorry you had a break down. It comes with the wonderful bedrest. I am 37wks and still hard for me to stay positive. Ive been super anxious these days. I cant wait to deliver so i can relax.
sft: your belly is so cute..Are you carrying a boy?
kneenah- don't know whether it's a boy or girl- I decided early on to use "he" instead of "it" throughout the pregnancy, but we're waiting until the big day to find out! Boy has been our guess for a while, but we'll see if we are right or not!

We don't know what we are having either. I also use he when referring to it most of the time. Sometimes I say baby or it as well. That was my feeling from the beginning. Although the last few scans I had they didn't have me look away and when they were in that area I never saw anything sticking out. So now I am starting to think its a she but I still say he.

@Paige: Welcome! This board has been a great support for me, I hope you find the same.
@Morgan: It's got to be hard not being there for your son's party but you're doing the right thing. He'll probably love his special 'birthday with mommy' celebration too.
@sftbalbabe: Love the pumpkin belly! I take a magnesium supplement (250 mg) and know how it helps with contractions so I took two today and know what you mean about making you tired! I just woke up after passing out. If anything I got a nice nap out of it.
I didn't really put two and two together with the magnesium supplement. Maybe I will try that? Did you guys check with your dr first or did your dr recommend it?

@Kneenah, I can't believe you're still hanging in there! I keep expecting to come on here and read that you're in labor. Any day now, I'm sure.
Slept okay last night. I'm sooooooooo sore and whimper in pain every time I turn sides. Have been finding myself not wanting to get out of bed until close to noon, even if I'm not sleeping. It's depressing knowing I can't get up and 'start my day' and go do something. I need out of this funk.
34w2d today.
Qotd: LO will be sleeping in a bassinet in our room for the first few months. We may be moving end of Feb/beginning of March so we aren't bothering with a nursery. I'm sort of bummed by that since our apartment has the perfect set up for it, but there's just no sense in doing a nursery when we will be moving in a few months. We will be using DD's crib for LO since she is in a toddler bed now. But we haven't bought a new mattress for it; will probably wait to do that until we are in a new place and then move baby to the crib. DD started out in the crib and I remember her looking like she was being swallowed by it because she was so small in that big crib! I did a lot of co-sleeping with her as DH worked 3rd shift at the time. He doesn't work 3rds anymore but will probably do some co-sleeping with this LO, too.

Sorry guys I haven’t been here lately. We had visitors from Germany and it was just a hectic week. Hope I didn’t miss too much. Well since last night I’ve been in some serious pain. It feels as if my hips are being torn apart. I explained it to my Husband as it feeling like a Pistachio that’s forcefully cracked open..I can not walk, I can hardly stand or put any pressure on my left side in any way. I mean I’ve had few little ouch moments were something gotten pinched, cramping, all over heaviness feeling and lightning crotch, but that’s about it..urgh
Milestones/Updates/Appointments: 37 Weeks today hooray! Plus my regular Gyno check up (thank god) where I will hopefully get some answers.
Qotd: Weekend plans..hmm relax, get some cleaning done and squeeze in some much needed TLC for me and DH. Baby will be sleeping in our room, for convenience, in a bassinet.
update: turns out the pain that I was having last night was LOs head burrying into the pelvis..thanks kid for a sleepless night in pain. Also, my Gyno was very surprised that I was still pregnant because babies head was so extremely low where he could touch it and move it with no big problems, and also being 70% effaced and 2cm dilated wohooo go body do ya thing!!!! :] I might be having this Baby sooner than we think.
@kneenah I love the outfit of your dog so darn cute! I bet you had fun day shopping and hope that something will happen soon *fingercrossed* @JandM jeez I hope you're feeling better and get some much needed rest @Paige sure you can join, so hi and welcome @Sft haha that is one awesome painted Pumpkin Baby Belly!!
Hi ladies, I wanted to introduce myself! I am 29w1d and on bed rest in the hospital. They found that I had a short cervix at 19 weeks. They monitored me and I had no changes until 25 weeks. My cervix had shortened more and was opening, they did a round of steroids at that point. I was put on bed rest at home and my mom came to take care of my 21 month old. On Monday I went in to get checked and I was 3cm dilated and contracting so they sent me to the hospital. They put me on magnesium sulfate and did a rescue course of steroids. I'm now just hanging out here and all seems to be stable. It sounds like I'll be here until 32 weeks, Nov 21st. If I have a few negative ffn's I might be able to go home at 31 weeks.
I slept pretty good last night. Now that I'm stable, the nurses have no reason to bother me on the middle of the night, which is nice. I'm also not hooked up to any machines anymore which makes it much easier to sleep.
They are going to do an ultrasound and check my cervix early next week, I'm hoping for good news!
No real plans this weekend, just more visits from my husband since he'll be off work and a few quick visits with my son.
Baby girl will sleep in our room for a little while before moving to the nursery.
Roses- my doctor wasn't the one to recommend the Mg, but I knew that's what they gave people in the hospital to stop contractions and then googled it and found some posts with people talking about it, so I asked my doc, and he said it couldn't hurt so I could try it if I wanted to. He suggested taking Calcium with it as well. For a while I just switched to a prenatal with Mg in it, and that did seem to help more than the prenatal without it. Then a few times I've done the extra dose of Mg alone, in those situations where I thought I might need to be calling the doc soon for the contractions, and each time it seemed to help and fend off the contactions, so other than the fatigue, it's something easy to try!
JustMaike- i've had some of that burrowing pain too- for one day I felt like I could barely walk. I'm also completely effaced and was 1cm dilated as of Monday, so I guess for both of us, these babies are trying to find the way out!
@sft Isn't it just crazy?! Doc actually said that he doesn't think that I'll be making it until next weekend without having little man..I broke out in cold sweat and didn't even know how to respond to questions. I let my husband do that haha
