Toddlers: 24 Months+

expecting moms with toddlers

We're wxpecting in March and DS will be 2 1/2. We hardly use our stroller now that its getting cold outside, but love to walk to parks in the stoller instead of walking. Since it will be spring when LO arrives and we'll likely be doing a lot of outdoor activities and walking, what are your recommendations for infant/toddler friendly double stollers?! Thanks Ladies!

  • My kids are 2.5 years apart and we got the Joovy sit and stand.  DD (the older one) likes to be able to stand and ride or hop on and off if she feels like walking.  Once DS was old enough we also started using the wagon a lot and they both prefer to ride in that given the option.

  • My kids are only 16 months apart but now that DD is getting older, I still find that I want her harnessed in a full stroller seat quite often.  We do a lot of walking and outdoor activities and she simply can't walk fast enough when we need to move quickly.  For example, if we are going to festival, I'll need her to sit while we walk to and from the car and she may sit if she gets tired or wants a snack but I'll let her walk while we are actually there.  If you do a lot of activities you may find that you want a full seat vs just a rider board or sit n stand type thing for your oldest.

The Britax B-Ready is nice because it can be a single or double.  I loved mine.  I have a BOB Duallie now which I adore but I also use my stroller for exercise so it's a must for me.  I also need all terrain tires in our area because the sidewalks and awful and there's a lot of curb popping.

  • Hmm to sit or to stand. I think DS would LIKE to stand, but I'm not sure if I'd like him to have that option while we're on the go...

  • OP, thanks for posting!!  I'm expecting DD #2 in January.  We live in California, so we're in stroller season most of the year.  By this summer, I'll need something that can accommodate a 3 yr. old and an six month old.

My friends have this stroller for their kids who are 2 yrs. apart: https://www.amazon.com/Baby-Jogger-City-Select-Seat/dp/B003O95UIQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1383255804&sr=8-3&keywords=city+double+stroller

They really like it.  It can be used as a jogging stroller and well paved side walks etc.  For walking, it's really durable on rougher roads as well.

    Hope this helps!!

On the sit n stand the older child can sit (facing backwards) and be buckled in if needed or stand and face forward.

  • When we had DS we bought a Baby Jogger City Select because it can have a second seat added.  DS still will ride in the stroller when he gets tired or to eat/drink.
I like being able to strap him in for situations when it isn't safe for him to walk or when we need to boogy.  He still will also nap in the stroller when we're out, so a seat is necessary for him.

  • We use a city mini double and we love it. At 2.5 and 4.5, we still use it a lot.

  • I know it's not what you asked... but I found it a lot easier to use our single stroller (travel system) and a carrier when DH wasn't around to help.  Doubles can be bulky to move around.  Just a thought.  Good luck.

  • Forgot to add... the other advantage of using a carrier and a single is that if your older child wants to walk, it is nice to be able to take them out of the stroller and pop the baby in their seat on.

We have this stroller too, and it's worked out really well. I think the advantage of the sit n stand, is that it's easy for the older child to sit, stand, or walk. DD1 hops on and off that thing all the time. The Joovy is also smaller than some of the other doubles and it's really easy to maneuver. DD1 is almost 4 and DD2 is almost 2 and we still take that stroller with us occasionally. Both of them walk a lot now, but it's nice to have when they start to get a little tired. Sometimes DD2 will stand on the back now.

  • My kids are 2 years apart and I love our city mini gt double. It fits well in stores and it has the most leg and head room. (My kids are both tall)
