At what week did everyone start buying baby things?

Also, what were the first purchases that you started making? I'm 20 weeks now, and I wasn't sure if that was too early or not.

Hi there, I'm a lot earlier than you are, but I wasn't planning on buying anything until I start my 3rd trimester. That's when I'll probably start getting the baby's room ready too. I know it's different for everyone and for every pregnancy. With my daughter I was buying clothes right after I found out the sex at 14 weeks.

I'm 23 weeks and just bought a crib and changing table last week, only because the store had an awesome sale going on and it was ending soon. I also bought a couple of onesies, only because they were too darn adorable to pass up. Other than those few items, I figured I'd wait until after the baby shower (which is Jan. 11, and I'm due March 1) to buy anything else. So I don't end up doubling up on anything.

I'm 18 weeks and my in-laws purchased the travel system stroller and car seat. We've purchased a few clothes, books, booties and a few toys.

My shower is at the end of November and then there is Christmas. I want to wait until the New Year to make any other purchases.

I'm 17 weeks and have bought a few things - a couple of gender neutral sleepers or onesies, a couple of toys, and we got a great deal on a travel system so we purchased that. We plan to wait to buy anymore until we find out the gender next week but I want our nursery done between now and Christmas just because I'm a teacher and would rather get things done on a break :-)

We bought a carseat at about 17 weeks because we found the one we wanted on sale for 50% off. (Chicco KeyFit 30). We haven't bought anything else yet.

This is our third and second boy so we barely need anything. I do need and want some new clothes though. I will probably start buying some as I see cute ones. I am 19 weeks.

I'm 24 weeks and we just bought our car seat today, as well as a few toys for the baby and am just finalizing our registry. Our family is pretty tight money wise, just having moved across the country back in September, and so we both feel like we're scrambling around.

We've purchased our crib and dresser, and DH is currently painting the nursery. We also picked up about 3 gender neutral onesies, MIL bought the baby a Dumbo Sound Soother, and we bought the baby our respective favorite disney character stuffed animals. SIL purchased a set of bibs, one of which says "Are these people really my relatives?!". We won't be purchasing anything else until we determine if anyone will offer to throw us a shower, or if we will be purchasing everything ourselves.

I am 16 weeks and I have been buying for years actually. I am obviously a preparer lol. We bought a crib awhile back and plan to buy stroller and bigger things soon. I know there will be people who want to buy things but I want to be sure and get exactly what we want. Then I won't feel bad about taking back if I already have it.

I'm 20 wks and we have our crib, dresser, and mattress- there was a great sale a few wks ago that we couldn't pass up. We've been buying boxes of diapers or wipes every other week, and I picked up a few outfits this wk since we just found out we are having a girl. I don't plan on getting anything else until after the shower. Have fun shopping!

I don't think you are too early. I will be 20 weeks tomorrow and am just about finished with the Baby Bargains book. Just ordered our stroller because I found a sweet 20% off offer online (PSA all strollers and accessories pishposhbaby.com). In-laws are taking us to get crib & dresser in two weeks, in case it takes a while to order the furniture from the specialty store they chose to take us to. Also ordered 5-6 footie pajama sets this week in various sizes from Zulilly at great prices. I probably won't buy any more clothes until after the shower in Jan/Feb. Enjoy the shopping!

Same. I don't plan to buy much of anything anyway because I'm blessed to have lots of young'ns in the family and their hand me downs for both genders clothes and toy-wise. Between that and the baby shower, not sure what else I'd need anyway.

I have most of what I need already because we are having another boy. There are a couple things I still want and have been looking at consignment stores to see if I can find a good deal. (Already snagged a nursing cover for $4!)

With my first, I think I started buying some of the bigger items that I hadn't registered for (crib, changing table) in early third tri. I had my baby showers about a month and a half before baby was due and got most everything else I needed. Don't buy too much until after your shower :-)

I'm almost 19 weeks now & we have buggy & cot so far. Purely because they were in sale haha! Didn't want to miss out!
Clothes wise we will start picking up bits when we know sex!
We also have a pack of white bibs (just because our 5yr old DS wanted to 'pick' something for 'his' baby

) )

We bought our dresser and crib at 10 weeks bc it was on sale and what we wanted and you also got 120$ gift card to grocery store so could not pass up free money. On the off hand it was gunna take 6-8 weeks to come in so we were fine buying it early, well it came in 2 weeks later... So now its all set up, my mom bought our bed set in amazing condition t a garage sale so cheap... I dnt like bright colors and everything gender neutral was bright so when she found something hubs n I could agree on that was darker n neutral she had to get it. I am 14 weeks today an got my glider last nt after searching for a decent price comfy one bc the one i wanted was 800$ so we slowly got bug things and will wait for shower before getting too much... We have expensive taste so big items we felt we had to purchase... I say start when u feel comfortable and in a safe zone... We had very early ultrasounds so i felt safe early. Things add up. GL

I'm a FTM and we've decided to start buying furniture, crib, dresser, changing table and glider, the week after the a/s. The a/s is at 21 weeks so we'll start at 22 weeks. The rest will most likely be bought after the shower, at around 32 weeks.

I am 13 weeks and yesterday I went on Craigslist and found a gender neutral baby swing, and a Chicco Travel system. I read online it is the best one to have and I was lucky to find someone who is selling theirs that they barely used. The exact item sells for 330 and she was selling it for 160. I'm very excited!! I prob won't buy much more but since I am on disability, I am trying to get some big things off th lost.

I am 21 weeks. I had a feeling I was pregnant, so me and my partner went out and got a PT and a pack of newborn diapers. I took the test as soon as we got home and I was indeed pregnant. After that, we bought diapers, bottles, and clothes. I had a feeling it was a girl and would always get girl clothes. Luckly we are having a girl lol. Family and friends gave us some of their baby items; bouncys, crib, etc. Good luck!

Miscarriage risk is extremely reduced after second trimester begins. I started around 13 weeks for my first. 22 weeks pregnant with DS2 and just got the crib etc. I pretty much have everything else from DS 1 who is only 17 months. Yay for having another boy!

I've bought a few clothes here are there. I think the biggest thing I started buying are diapers, as we are doing cloth and this is our first baby...we need to stock up! The bigger items, like furniture, are probably going to be right after the new year. I'm 16 weeks 3 days right now.

Haha, i've already started buying things. I'm 16 weeks and we just found out we are having a girl, so I looked at my husband and was like, It's ON!!!! I've already bought a boppy, a sleeper, a bouncer, a diaper bag, a stroller system and some clothes! It's never too early to start buying things for your little one!!! Congrats!

I wasn't planning on buying anything until later on as well (arournd 3rd trimester) or if there's a really good sale (during the holidays). This weekend, we just got some clearance Halloween bodysuits, etc for next Halloween. It can be very tempting though especially with clearances selling out and so many cute stuff.

I bought a couple outfits after we found out it was a girl, but that was it. I am 26w6d and we just picked up our nursery furniture yesterday and will put that together this weekend. Other than a few outfits we are waiting until after the baby shower to do the rest of our shopping.

My mom bought me something at 7 weeks. I wouldn't have told anyone or bought anything that early, but she was visiting, and I was sick.

I bought a diaper bag at 14 weeks or so. It was a steal, and I was sort of celebrating making it through the 1st trimester.

I'm 21 weeks now. We got a crib about 2 weeks ago, and I bought a stroller that is compatible with our car seat of choice for $35 off of craigslist last week.

I'm 21 weeks, and I have started buying. I have more energy right now to go shop around, and I'm only looking for the big items - cribs, glider, and dresser... generally things that you don't get at the shower (depending on cost). My glider is taking 8 weeks to come in, and I've heard its good to allow a few weeks to let furniture breath/air out - as it will have the "factory" smell... so that will put it about 8 weeks before I deliver... and I would prefer to relax and have the nursery done right around the time.
