The things DH does...

So I'm taking a course online and I told DH early in the week that I needed to work on course stuff on Thursday night and I would start doing that after dinner.  So after dinner...DH decides he's going to do laundry and the dishes.  So obviously he wasn't going to do a good job watching DD...she started to cry and get cranky.

So what does he do to entertain her? He puts her in the play pen and throws corn flakes on the bottom of it for her to pick up and eat.  WTH?  ...and he was really proud of himself too...and said "look, she's not crying anymore!"

In retrospect, I should have suggested that DH take her out trick or treating last night!

  • Luckily Keith is pretty good with playing with her. But it's funny, if I am in the vacinity and have asked him to watch her while I do something, he does the same thing as yours. He will walk out of the room and go do something meanwhile she will start crying or come looking for me. It's like- Geez - I just asked for 10 minutes. Really?

Haha, yeah that is exactly us.  He is really good with her but if I ask for time to do something...then he'll urgently need to clean the bathroom or something and try to leave her by herself.  Then I end up going to get her.  I don't know why dishes, laundry etc can't wait 30 minutes. ... I guess my problems aren't that big though.  I'm mad that my husband was cleaning the dishes.  :)

  • Yeah, ours is usually at dinner.  For whatever reason, while I'm making dinner, Thomas is hell-bent on being in the kitchen with me.  DH keeps calling him from outside the kitchen - I'm never sure how to nicely tell him that he is going to have to come get his son so I can finish dinner in a timely manner.
  • Hahaha, my husband does this sometimes, too.  And then if I call him on it, sometimes he'll get all defensive.  "COME GET YOUR SON" "What, I didn't realize you wanted me to get him!"  Oh really, asshole?  You thought I wanted to take my whole shower with my baby standing at the door, pulling on the gate and yelling?  Really?

I would have been proud of my husband. Dishes and laundry are getting done without me doing them, toddler is entertained and happy... I wouldn't have done it myself, but if my H had done it, I would have smiled and said thank you. Maybe my expectations are too low.  ;)
