Group B Strep...quick question/poll, if you will...

Any of you just get swabbed in the lady bits and NOT both the lady bits plus the back door? I feel like my doc only did the lady bits...

I didn't think to ask until it was brought to my attention once I got home that they usually do both. And calling about this seems kinda silly (and almost insulting to the doctor if you ask me). I'll probably ask at my next appt on Thursday but I just wanted a general consensus for clarification/a little peace of mind.

I got swabbed in Both but the back door swab didn't go "in" it was just a quick swipe over the bum hole...lol

They saw mine on a urine sample so no swabbing here.

I only had the lady bits done - when I asked she said it was because I have previous children and was not positive with those two. I wasn't complaining

I will have mine on Monday and was already warned (by my OB) that it's lady bits and back door.

I didn't feel it, but I know he used both ends of a swab bc I was watching what I could, so I assume he went in both. It was hard to distinguish because it went so quick and was really gentle.

Maybe it was the same for you?

Just the lady bits unless I really just didn't feel the back door action... It was quick, so I guess I can't rule it out but I didn't ask.

I just had mine done yesterday afternoon and it was both. It took about 5seconds to do so maybe you just missed it.
I even asked why I needed this done since I will be having a RCS and was told that it's just so they know if it's positive. That way when the baby is born if he starts to develop a fever in the first 24hrs they can go ahead and start treating him without having to wait for culture to come back for him.

I've had different OBs for all three pregnancies. First two swabbed lady bits. This time I was swabbed around both.

Both. I believe the the more important area is the perineum and the bum area is just a precaution.

Both for me and both were super uncomfortable. She checked my cervix as well that day and I was expecting that to be rough but that was the easy part. Guess my butt really doesn't like being violated.

I havn't had it done with this pregnancy or my last. I'm having a repeat c/s, maybe thats the reason. Sorry no help here

She swabbed front to back. It honestly felt like she was using the wrong end of the swab. It didn't "hurt" but it definitely stung, like I was being scratched.
