DD has started crying in her sleep. She doesn't wake up, just cries while she's asleep, sometimes just a minute then back to sound sleeping, other times she cries loudly like someone's trying to kill her - but she doesn't wake up! Last night my husband figured the crying we were hearing was DD waking up so he said bring her downstairs to hang out with him so I could finish doing her purees for the week. I went upstairs and picked her up and she was sound asleep. She stopped crying once I was holding her so I did take her down to DH to hold her. She slept on his chest for 30 minutes while I did various things then I took her back to her crib. She cried a bit when I put her back down but not more than a minute so I went about my evening.
Can she be having nightmares?? Or is this a symptom of teething? She has her 2 bottom front teeth already but I think there are more coming soon as she can't keep the teether out of her mouth (or anything else for that matter). I feel so bad hearing her scared cry!!
Re: 6.5 months - nightmares??
My 7.5 month old has been doing this lately. Last night at 1am she screamed so loud, a high pitched adult scream like she was being attacked. Scared the beejeebers out of me. I happened to be awake and hanging out in the nursery on my laptop when it happened (she was passed out in crib). So glad I was awake as had I been in the other room asleep waking to that on the monitor I would have thought she was being attacked!
Pretty sure it's just a developmental thing...their brains are firing crazy messages in their sleep. Doubt they actually know anything happened and are not scared at all...unless we run in panicked and freak them out!
Awww, this kind of makes me sad.
I wonder what images they see that make them so frightened.
