Hello Oct mommas!
I have been lurking around pretty much my entire pregnancy but never got around to an intro or being an active member except for maybe one or two replies I made early on. Oops. Please forgive me. I have wanted to do this many times but here we are.
I am 26, FTM, married to my DH for 2 years this coming March but we started dating when i was 16. We welcomed our little lady Emma Helena into the world on October 15, my due date was the 19th but had to be induced for pre e. She was a whopping 9 lbs 9.5 oz and 23.5 inches long! I will spare you all the nitty gritty details mainly because this is getting long

Now on to my question: for the BFing moms, when you are out at the store and LO needs fed how are you handling this? DH and I were in Target today and LO needed fed and I went to the family bathroom expecting there to be a chair and low and behold there was none! I actually ended up just standing in the bathroom to feed her since it was at least private but I'm wondering if anyone has run into a similar situation and what you did?
And if you made it through all of this I give you miss Emma in her 2 halloween outfits from today!
Re: Dirty lurker intro, a question & PIP :)
The car is my best friend, when LO is hungry!
Public bathrooms freak me out!
Eta: we usually bring a bottle of expressed milk out with us just in case he gets hungry and we need to feed him in a pinch.
Yeah I see them now too not sure why when I looked before I didn't see them. I'm blaming lack of sleep.
Just get a good cover and walk around nursing or get some sort of carrier that would allow you nurse.

My advice would be to practice at home. I was never and will never be someone who goes somewhere else to nurse. I'll make it work where I am. I was the same with DD1. When she was a NB (before I had a ring sling), I just held her football style under my cover and walked around nursing her. But sans ring sling meant I needed both hands to accomplish this.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
The covers with the rigid tops are the way to go. I know people hate the free-except-shipping offers like Seven Slings or whatever, but Udder Covers does the same thing and their covers work just as well and cost less than what I've seen in stores.
I hope people will get more comfortable nursing in public. For me, I was never uncomfortable doing it, but I definitely got more comfortable and less shy about it with time. The more people who do it, the more normal it becomes and the more people will feel comfortable feeding their babies the most natural way. Good luck.
So far, I've been able to time most outings between feedings. Yesterday, I was at the mall with a friend and luckily Von Maur has a mother's room that I used. I'm not confident enough with bfing to do it in a sling/ carrier
