We used it for DD1, and it put my mind at ease. I am sure there are people who think it's a gimmic, but it helped me sleep better at night. We saved it for #2.
We had a regular AngelCare with DS1 and almost 6 years later, the audio portion works just fine. I lost the sensor pad in a move but I'm impressed the audio works 6 years later.
For DS2, since I had lost the sensor pad, we decided to go with a Snuza movement monitor and a seperate video monitor. The got the SnuzaGo and a Motorola video monitor and love them. The Snuza only lasted until around 9 months when he started preferring to sleep on his belly then we stopped using it due to it becoming dislodged and giving false alarms. Our video monitor is awesome and we love it.

The bolded is what we used as well. I LOVE the Snuza! It was so easy to use and easy to travel with. We actually used it until a year, even when she started sleeping on her stomach we just moved it off to the side a bit. I put the loop side of velcro on the back where the battery door is and that gripped the diaper so it never came loose or gave us false alarms. Having it really helped me sleep well and I will use it for future kids.
I haven't personally used it but two of my friends are new mommies and love it.
