Coffee Alternative? must get caffeinated!!!

Any coffee haters out there? I really can't stand the tast of coffee but desperately need some morning caffeine to get through the day. I'm BFing a 3 month old so I'm not going to start popping 5 Hour Energy, but I need a boost! I was just wondering if anyone had any alternatives to coffee? I'm not a fan of that roasted flavor. Maybe I should just suck it up and start to like it hahha.

  • Tea, soda, disguise the coffee flavor in a pumpkin latte or some other delicious concoction?

    I don't really have great advice - I can drink plain black coffee with no problem, but some of those Starbucks coffee drinks do a great job of disguising the coffee flavor.

  • I am not a coffee drinker either, but I need caffeine.  I am a diet soda fanatic, even though I know it's terrible for me. I also like tea, and find that drinking ice tea v/s hot tea makes it go down easier.  I can drink it quicker and get the caffeine rush quicker.

  • I can't stand coffee.  I am a recovering diet dew addict (although I still occasionally slip).  What I've replaced diet dew with these days are the Crystal Light drink mixes - primarily the Wild Strawberry energy mix (it has caffeine).  There is a grape flavor energy mix as well, but I prefer the wild strawberry.

  • @Sunidaze Diet Mt Dew is also my drink of choice.  I'm actually very ashamed at how much I drink.  I'm impressed you've given it up.  I gave it up during pregnancy, but went right back to it after birth.

  • DH has been taking B12 vitamins and says it gives him extra energy.

    I haven't been able to give it up entirely yet, but have cut back to just weekends.  It helps that they no longer carry in the vending machine at work (I am partial to 20 oz bottles, nothing else will do) and I don't want to make an extra stop on the way in in the morning!

  • I have always loved the metallic taste of the Diet Mt. Dew can.  It goes well with the aspertame.

  • I've been looking for an alternative myself... I used to be a huge diet coke person (Diet coke with breakfast? YES PLEASE!) but cut it out when I was KU and now can't stand the taste, which saddens me. (And makes my wallet happy)

  • Chai tea lattes! Starbucks is decent.  If you have a Trader Joe's nearby they sell a powdered mix that is awesome.  I keep a tin of it at my desk in case I don't have coffee. 

     

  • I was crazy about Diet Mtn Dew before I got pregnant and then I wasn't interested in it at all when I was pregnant (which is probably a good thing) and now I'm sort of indifferent about it. Now I'm a diet Pepsi drinker

    @milkergirl1 can you get the Refreshers at a grocery store? Or does it have to come from Starbucks?

    Not as much as coffee but most do. 

     

  • I love coffee, but if I didn't, I'd go with tea. Lots of flavor options and it has health benefits that soda lacks.

  • Tea...

    Making smoothies with coffee or tea.  Ie. you can put some powdered instant coffee in a blender with some almond milk and a banana for breakfast.  Add some vanilla or cocoa powder if you like.

  • Dark hot chocolate in the morning does the trick!
  • Green tea...maybe more protein in n the morning.

  • I'm glad you posted this. I just found out I'm pregnant, and my morning routine of two giant cups of coffee has to go to the wayside. :(( I've been making do with tea and the occasional Diet Dew, but it's going to be a process to cut the caffeine again.
