Purple crying

I think there was a thread about this a few days ago, but I apologize I couldn't locate it.

Anyhow, I am pretty sure we had our first bout with purple crying last...it was exhausting and nearly had me in tears by the time we it ended, in about 45 minutes. My husband was great trying to jump in and help soothe her too. Eventually we just ended up walking up and down the hallway talking to her and holding her head against my shoulder. So strange how she went from perfectly happy when changing her diaper to screaming bloody murder when we were getting ready to put her down for bed a few minutes later. LO is 7 weeks old. Anyone else experience this yet?

    Yep. We had a night last week where she cried/ fussed off and on for 5hrs straight (until 2:30am). She's 9wks. It sucks and it's completely overwhelming. I've cried right along with LO on more than one occasion.

    It's 1 am where I live and my little one has been fussy all day no nap since 1 pm today....I feel your pain.

    We just started this a couple of days ago. With PURPLE crying, nothing will soothe them - not food, breast/bottle, changing, rocking, or swaddling. But they aren't sick or in pain although they may have a painful face and cry.

    Ahh, gotcha.  I assumed purple was because of how red/purple they get when they scream and cry so hard.  Guess I haven't experienced *real* purple crying.
    We hadn't either until about the day after a post went up about it lol

    Edit: But it is like that crying when they don't get food fast enough. It just lasts for 45 mins w/o any soothing options. It's heartbreaking.

    We get episodes all day every day. Now my LO has a lot of pain from reflux, but it is exhausting and emotional! You did the best thing and sometimes nothing works. :/ you are a good mama!

    I'd never even heard of this! Fortunately for me baby cries more during the day and hardly any at night! Hang in there! I'm sure it's hard to keep your sanity going through this =(
