passive-aggressive parenting comment today.

I was shopping at Homegoods and a woman that worked there was cooing over DS but then was like, "Oooh where's your hat? Why aren't you wearing a hat today, it's cold!".

Um.... it was 55 degrees today, so not freezing - he was wearing a one piece outfit made entirely of fleece and on top of that wearing a quilted jacket lined with fleece. He's also not a newborn! Grr! I'm not being a negligent parent!

Blah, so obnoxious. I would have been tempted to say (but of course, never would), "He took it off so you can wipe your butt with it, if your unsolicited advice doesn't do the trick."

I actually pointed out that it was 55 degrees outside and he was plenty warm enough. But of course I said it in super nicey-nice tone and smiled. :-)

Yeah... DD basically doesn't want to keep any clothes on. Ever. She would be butt naked all the time if she could.The other day we went for a walk. By the time we came back her mittens were off and hanging out of her mouth, her blanket had been kicked off, and her socks were gone. She thinks pulling off her socks and chewing on them is a fun game. I just bought a fleece suit with fold-over hand and feet flaps so she can't take anything off. HA! I won the game! :P

I, too, am surprised you made it this long! I live in New Orleans, where it's a bagillion degrees in the summer, and got comments about DS not having a hat on. IN THE SUMMER IN NEW ORLEANS. The first time I got that comment, I literally just stared at the person because I was so flabbergasted. :P After that when the comments kept coming (beginning to think it's something cultural here, I'm not a NOLA native), I would say, "it's 90 degrees and he's sweating, no I'm not putting a hat on him!" and then laugh.

I always assume this is a really nice person making a really nice comment about my baby. I say, oh, it's in the car--she loves to take off her hat unless it's really cold. If I got mad when someone said something that might be critical, I'd never be able to be around my mother, who cannot speak to me without providing a suggestion.

Today I got 'are you hungry? Doesn't mommy feed you' bc LO was eating a toy at the play centre. This was from another mother...seriously, your kid never put toys in his mouth?!

I HATE that! My (rude) MIL likes to say sh*t like that all. the. time. Pisses me off. I have to mentally hold back my hands from b*tch-slapping her. Grrrr.

I am from the North shore! I cannot believe people keep telling you something about hats! Not a cultural thing that's for sure. I guess you just keep running into the crazies! Anyway hi neigneighbor!
