What was the bottom number? 136 seems normal to me. Last time, they got concerned when I was in the 150/100 range, and they were much more concerned with the bottom number than the top. I would think any bottom number over 90 is worrisome.
If diastolic was normal that's good. But in terms of high Bp, they've really lowered the limits, anything over 120 is borderline, and 130+ is high, at least that's what they taught us in nursing school.. I'd just keep an eye on it
When I had to go to the hospital to be monitered with my son, anything over 140/90 made her cautious. It happened to me a few times, and it always ended up OK (not pre-eclamsia, no need for early induction)... I wonder if it's white coat syndrome later in pregnancy for me. So far so good with this pregnancy.
Anything over 140/90 is considered high. Also, one high reading is nothing to be alarmed about. I would keep an eye on it if it were me. I'm on meds for mine but am supposed to call in to the dr if I have 2 consecutive readings over 140/90
Yes @ceh789 I check mine at home because I have to check mine multiple times a day. If you are near a cvs/grocery store...I would just stop there once a day and check it. That's what I used to do before I was on meds and pregnant.
My bp has been 136/90 and has been getting higher these past couple of weeks. When I talked with my doctor she said it normally shows an underlying problem of having high blood pressure even if I wasn't pregnant. Makes sense family history EVERYONE has it high bp. Also when gaining a lot of weight that can jump your bp high and that's what has happened to me so far I'm 4'11 and gained 20 pounds. It's crazy stupid the weight gain but hell who knows I feel like a whale all the time anyways. At this point I'm waiting for them to say bed rest or put me on something!
I think 150/100 are the numbers to stay under. That being said my systolic is usually high towards 2nd half. Like 170s high. I do lots of 24 hr urine, liver and kidney tests. They also do ultrasounds and measure my cord pressure and fluid levels. I am told to rest with my feet up as much as possible with a toddler at home. I'm a gestational hypertensive which is different than pre-e. Both times I've been induced around 39 weeks when my diastolic goes over 100. But since my cord pressure is within normal range my babies aren't affected by it. Just me.
Re: Elevated BP?
If they weren't worried about it I wouldn't worry. Docs take high BP seriously with preggo's.
FWIW: 136 is technically somewhat elevated...but it's not an OMG number.
