If you feed purees

Approximately how long does it take to feed your LO a standard jar size portion of purees?  I swear it feels like it takes longer to feed ds2 than it did any other baby I have ever fed.  It generally takes us around 30 minutes or so and he isn't playing/distracted.

Re: If you feed purees

  • When my DS was doing good with eating solids it took 30 minutes.  If he was really into it he would take less, but normally 30 minutes.  As he has started slowing down (and not eating much) it takes me a full  hour to just get a few bites.

  • I would love it to take that long I would take 15 minutes! My LO loves to eat! She eats 6 to 8 oz 3 Times a day plus her normal 5 6oz bottles a day. It takes about 10 minutes for her to eat and then gets bored so she doesn't get to eat with us.

  • My LO takes about 30 mins too.  When he is hungry or really likes it closer to 15.
  • It would probably take three days for my DD to eat a whole jar! She's just not that into food.
  • It depends on how distracted she is.  It can be as quick as a few mins to 30mins when distracted.  She also makes such a mess when she is distracted that she is still hungry after because more of it is on her then in her.

  • DS loves solids but it takes him 2-3 meals to finish a jar. He gets full quickly. I've started making my own an freezing them in ice cubes. He'll eat 2 of those in about 20 minutes.
  • If DD likes what I'm giving her 15-30 minutes.  If she is not a fan (peas and green beans) then longer.  I've started mixing purees she likes with those she doesn't now though so usually 15-30 minutes.
  • Thanks.  It's nice to know that while it feels like ds is taking forever to eat that he's really not taking longer than most other kids.
