Little boy mamas who circed

Reading previous posts I have seen people mention about pulling back the skin so it doesn't adhere. Our pedi never mentioned this so just wondering what exactly you do and how often?

Re: Little boy mamas who circed

  • We were told not to touch it with either of our sons. DS1 healed just fine (he's 2). DS2 is almost healed and it looks great.

The bolded section. Don't worry about it, unless it gets poop in/on it in which case clean that off as gently as you can.
  • Our pedi told us about every other diaper change.
    Anniversary

  • My pedi told us it looked fine and there was no need but my best friend's pedi told them the same thing and now their LO has to have surgery in the future because part of it fused back together. I've been pulling it back in occasion...mostly to clean the poop off. Seems to be doing him no harm and it looks like it has healed nicely. He's five weeks old tomorrow.
  • Our pedi said to just pull the "helmet" back at every diaper change to make sure it doesn't reattach.. Only like three little finger strokes so no big deal.
  • Thanks ladies...as with everything there are so many different opinions! So frustrating! My LO is a month old and it appears to be completely healed, just didnt know if it was something that still needed done periodically.

I don't think it would hurt to do it every once in awhile. It literally doesn't hurt them and it's better to be safe than sorry IMO.
  • Our pediatrician said to do this but this is AFTER the circumcision healed. He said not to touch it when it was healing because you could pull the scab (whitish yellow looking) off by touching it.
  • We were told to leave it alone other than putting ointment on it at every diaper change.  It healed up wonderfully.

  • How did your dr do the circ? We had the ring and the doctor told us not to touch it at all. Not even wipe it. They said if poop got on it to gently rinse it off with warm water.

  • I was told not to do anything, but then it adhered. I was pissed. The OB fixed it, and I still pull it back at every diaper change just to make sure it doesn't happen again. We saw the pedi today for his one month and she checked it. Said it looks great now.

  • Pedi said that she will do it if necessary at his appointments.

    This!!!
  • What type of circ did he get? Not all circ care is the same.

Ours got a plastibell. No need to pull back, no need for vaseline. No need to touch it unless it's dirty. We just wait for the bell to fall off.

  • We were told to squeeze a huge blob of Vaseline on it at every diaper change, and keep an eye on it. The pedi looked at it today and said it's looking great!
