Hates jackets

My LO can be in a great mood UNTIL I try to put a jacket on him before going outside.  He does NOT like jackets.  He starts screaming and crying if I try to put one on him.  I've tried to make it fun.  I've tried to explain to him that mommy wears a jacket as I put one on myself.  I've even opened the door a drop to try to explain to him that it's cold outside and that's why we wear a jacket.  He is unfazed.  He'd rather just go outside without the jacket.  Any advice?

    I agree with Lala....natural consequences.  DS1 and I put our coats on and if DS2 refuses, we go ahead out.  Usually after a few minutes of being outside, I will try to put it on again and he'll let me because he is cold.

    So I saw this and thought it said "hats & jackets" and read it like 5 times to see where you mentioned hats.  

    Anyway, kids just don't get cold like adults do.  Do you remember being cold when you were little? They are too interested in what's going on where it's all I think about.  Just take the jacket out with you and make sure he knows its there if he changes his mind.

    Thanks all.  And to previous poster, he hates hats too, LOL.  Basically, he hates clothes in general and would prefer to live in a nudist colony.  Thanks to everyone's advice, at least I won't feel like a horrible mother if he goes outside with no jacket on at first.  It's true, when I feel his hands with no jacket on, he's warm.
