XP : My Dog's Day Today in Heaven!

My dear sweet dog, Emmitt, passed this morning quietly as I stroked his head. I got up around 8am to feed Alex & check on him with the heater.

I told him good morning & today was his day to cross the Rainbow Bridge. That Dad would be waiting for him with lots of yummy chicken. That he could be free of disease, pain & have perfect balance. He would have all his teeth & no one would ever hurt him like they did in this life.

He tried to move his paw & move his mouth, then he was gone. I hope he wasn't in any pain. A blessing is that he got to go at home. The vet always stressed him out really bad. I was dreading the euthanasia appointment today, honestly. So I'm happy he had his last moments safe, warm & loved at home.

I'm sad, & wish his little life had been easier. However, since he came to live with us he's had all the love, treats & cuddles that he could get. We had 4 years of memories & I will see him whole, n' happy when I get there.

Thank you for all the love & support. I don't know what I'd do without my lovely bump ladies.

This brings tears to my eyes. We had to put our boy to sleep right before S was born, I know how this heartache feels. I'm sorry for your loss but happy your boy is no longer in pain. The house still feels empty sometimes...when it dies I just try to think of the good memories and smile knowing he is watching over LO like I asked him to before he left.

I'm so, so sorry. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that he passed away in the best possible place, quietly in his own home with the people he loved. He'll never have to hurt ever again, and there's nothing but peace and serenity for him now. He knows you loved him very much.

So so sorry for your fur baby's passing. Losing our pets is heartbreaking but it's so wonderful that you gave him permission to let go and watched over him lovingly as he crossed over. You did him proud.

I'm so sorry for your loss but hope you can take comfort in the fact that you gave your pup the best possible life, and I'm sure he knew how much he was loved.

We lost one of our two pugs 2 months ago when DD was just 12 days old. It was very sudden and unexpected (he had always been healthy and turned 7 years old the day he passed), but we did get to say goodbye and be with him when he went to the Bridge. We still miss him, but we try to focus on the good memories we have from the 3+ years we had him (we rescued him when he was almost 4). Let yourself grieve in whatever way feels most natural to you - everyone has a different process. T&Ps to you and your family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds like he had a very happy life with you, try to find comfort in that. It's so hard to say good bye to a pet, they're family members too.
I'm glad you didn't have to take him to the vet. Passing quietly at home surrounded by loved ones is how most of us would want to go.

It is never easy to lose a pet. It has been two years since we lost our family cat and not a week goes by that something doesn't remind me of her. A pet is a pet and part of the family. I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your furry baby. I have another book I'd like to suggest, it's called "A Letter To My Dog" notes to our best friends. Robin Layton . It's letter from celebrities and from normal people to their dogs. Every one brings tears to your eyes and smiles to your face. It really is wonderful sometimes I pick one up and get a little pick me up. Or have a good cry. My husband and I both wrote a letter to our dog, and put it in the back. It's really therapeutic. Hope it helps during this hard sad time.
