We're thinking of getting a few pictures taken for P's 6 months/Christmas. Last year, my niece got some really nice portraits at JC Penney, so we were thinking of doing that. Have any of you used JCP for pictures? How did they turn out?
I used them last year for DS's Christmas pictures and I was very happy with them. I actually didn't have high hopes for them and wanted to go to Picture People but they were booked solid. I was really surprised with how great the JCP pictures came out.

We just used them a few weeks ago for LO's 3 month pictorial. I got a Groupon for 3 images on a disc and 2 prints. We loved how they turned out. I got 2 Groupons, so I'll be using the other for our Christmas pictures.
if you can dont go on a weekend. they give u 10 min time slots i went on a monday and i was the only one there so we got 45 minutes! also the manager was our photographer and she was great!!

We bought a Groupon and used it for pictures right around 7 weeks. I was pleased with how they turned out, especially for the price with the Groupon. The gal we had did a great job, even with Keenan on the brink of a meltdown the whole time. Only downside was not getting very many pictures, but that was only because the meltdown did occur. Let me see if I can get a few uploaded for you...
I have used JCP for portraits since we had dd 4 years ago. I always do the same look, white background and nothing too fancy. They always turn out clean and cute. Go on line and print up the coupon for $3.99 a sheet. It's a great deal. And join the portrait club. I get pics done there about every 6 mos.
I did. They turned out fine, but they made it a little too easy for me to choose pictures! There were a couple good ones of each kid and a couple nice ones of them together. You get what you pay for, IMO.
I have had really BAD experiences there, but sometimes end up having to go there. After trying our local one again and having another terrible experience, when I am stuck going to one, I drive 40 min to a different one.
I have found (at least around here) they are not open to listening to the parent (ie "You are scaring her, please don't squeak that and talk so loud", so she got right in their face and did it again - and was a bitch when I said I needed to calm her down before we finished. "Please just take the photo when they smile, even if they aren't looking directly at you" and they wouldn't take it til she looked directly at her, at which point she stopped smiling and started her pre-cry) they have never ever taken more than 10 min even when we went in the middle of the week and no one was there, even though LO warmed up at the end. Then I had to wait 45 min just to get on a computer to view and pick them while LOs had a total meltdown.
On rare occasion, I get a decent photographer and get 2-3 decent shots.

I think this may be area dependent. I tried going to the less crowded mall on several occasions and had an awful experience each time. And the manager is awful with the kids but insisted on doing the photos all but the second time. We went to the busier mall and had slightly better experience, but still not stellar.
