I need hair care expert advice.
I have an appt for a perm next week. The same lady who has been coloring it is doing it. She wants to look at my hair before she does a loose curl perm bc she's afraid it may turn into a frizzy mess after 10 years of coloring it.
It's been 5months since I've put any color on it my roots are a couple inches long. People always comment on the healthy condition of my hair after they hear I've been dying it red for 11 years. Whatever.
What do y'all think? Is she pulling my leg? Should I go elsewhere?
Re: Rooster & Sol
For example, about 5 years ago I got extensions. I researched (yelp wasn't popular at that time) best extensions in my area. I found a salon that 90% of their biz was extensions and they were fabulous.
I am considering doing Brazilian straightening (or a relaxer, the opposite of what you want to do) and I will most likely go somewhere than my regular salon. Even though they offer the service, it's not their specialty.
I disagree about hair being too processed. Unless it's breaking or falling out or you lighten it often, you should be fine.
Your hair should be fine. I would be more concerned if your hair was lightened or overly processed(breaking). They have perm solution for processed(tinted/previously chemically treated) hair. Don't worry about finding a different stylist unless you don't think your stylist is seasoned on this area. Im great with perms, I don't "specialize" in them though. I guess I would "specialize" in short hair, highlights and balayage. But I don't have that on my business card or anything.
And, I would trust @RoosterMemphis to do anything to my hair. Based on your post, your stylist seems inexperienced in this area and uncomfortable doing it. That's why I suggest looking elsewhere.
Good luck!
