Daylight Savings

Since the day of "falling back" is quickly approaching, do any STM's have goo advice on what to do? Should I try to keep O up later on Saturday or is it all just a futile effort and he'll have to adjust throughout the week? Thanks!

Re: Daylight Savings

  • The best advice I've heard is to try to change bed time by 15min every few days. So we started keeping her up 15 min later on Monday.

  • I'm dreading this time change. We just got the girls to sleeping until *almost* 6. I have a feeling we will be back at the 5am thing again.

  • I soooo don't want to be getting up at 5 on the weekends. I do that during the week :((

  • We're changing time 3 time zones 5 days later, so my plan is to grin and bear it. And have all the beer.

Having a set routine after daycare pick-up really helps the boys adjust. We don't have a lot of down time after daycare so getting them to bed following dinner, bath, book is what helps them adjust their bedtime. Being dark so early also helps getting them to bed. It usually takes less than a week.

Personally, my kids have always done better in the fall when it gets dark earlier. The springing forward messes with them more.

We just push bedtime 15 minutes for a few days before to prepare. They usually do ok with it. We don't have a super strict bedtime routine anyway though. We are more of a "bedtime is 830-9 ish" type family.

Yes, this is true for us too. James had a really hard time with going to bed when it was still light outside so it made him get less sleep over all.

we have been marching her bedtime a little later this week and hoping that Halloween excitement pushes it closer to 8 so that when the time changes she'll be back to a 6:30-7:00 bedtime.  I am more fearful of the wakeup.  Her 5:45 becoming 4:45 will kill me.
Same here. He has been waking up between 5-5:30 for the last couple of months. I am DREADING DST. The only good thing is he's staying with my parents on Saturday. So while I'm out boozing it up at a wedding, they'll be the ones getting up with him at 4 a.m. :)

Don't think I'm evil. My parents are up and have laundry done by that hour everyday anyway.
