How did you ladies sleep?

Milestones, updates, appts?

Qotd: What lotion are you using on your skin?

Re: Wednesday Bedrest Check In

  • 37wk FULL TERM :-) god is good!!!

    I have been sleeping a lot better. My friends say its my body giving me a break because I won't get much sleep when baby is here. :-/

    DH put together the babies pack and play, it looks so cute. I can't wait till she is here. 2 days post cerclage removal and still no contractions lol I have a feeling I may go to due date. Nov 20th hurry up and get here.

    Qotd: I should be using better lotion as my belly is now starting to get stretch marks but I've been applying Bath and Body work lotion.

  • kneenah- yay, 37 is awesome, congrats on full term!  Hope baby doesn't quite make you wait until Nov 20 though!

    Slept pretty well last night, after a lot of contractions and lower abdominal pain early last evening that lasted a couple hours.

    1 more day til 36- so excited!

    For anyone who has recently gone cold turkey on their procardia, did your contractions and such increase noticably right away, or no?  Just wondering what to expect- I'm going to take my last one Friday afternoon (OB said I can stop anytime after Thursday).

    I've just been using a regular body lotion and a body scrub with oil in the shower, both of which are pretty generic brands that I just got at home goods.

  • I slept great. Woke up for a couple pee breaks.

    I gave an late update yesterday in the check in on my cervical US. Regular OB appt tomorrow and nst. 4 more days til 28 weeks.

    I use aveeno for sensitive skin but I don't use it much. My hands are starting to crack.
    BFP #1 (7/13/12) MC (8/14) 9 weeks. D & C 8/17.
    BFP #2 (5/18/13) due 1/26/14. Grow baby grow!
    Its a surprise! Team green!

  • Didnt sleep so great, had to go to the bathroom frequently My appt is today..fingers cross. 27 weeks! Cant wait to see my lil guy, ever since i was admitted his kicks feels different, there lower and not as strong. I dont know whats that about so im dying to speak with my MD about that. I stopped taking procardia since my last hospitalization and I havent had no if any contractions. I use cbooth shea and cocoa cream butter its wonderful but I still got stretch marks more so after i was hospitalized, i think all the fluid they gave me.
  • I slept really well. I had an OB appt that I got out of the house for yesterday, so maybe that tuckered me out :)

    Baby boy was super active at the appt yesterday (I am sure he was thrilled to get out of the house, lol). My doctor said just to keep resting as I have been and we'll work toward getting another week along (I'm 23 wks now).

  • @Kneenah-Full term!!!  Yay for you!  Hopefully you won't have to hold out until the 20th. :-)
    @sftbalbabe-Almost 36, congrats!
    @Bossyfnp-Horray for 27!

    Took me a long time to fall asleep last night, so not a great night sleep.  And I have this weird pain by my left hip that I thought was the baby's foot, then I thought was a gas bubble, but now I have no clue.  Its annoying though, hope it goes away soon.  No milestones here.  A friend coming with pumpkin spice latte :-)  The will be the highlight of my day!

    I usually use coco butter on my pregnant belly, but since I've been in the hospital I'm just using Cetaphil, which also happens to be my body and face lotion!
  • I slept about 3 hours last night.  I'm so tired but wide awake.

    Update:  I came in to the hospital with contractions last night and am still here.  I might be able to go home if they stay under control.  They started very mild and lasted all day long before getting more intense.  When I got here they were 3 minutes apart so they gave me my first steroid shot for the baby's lungs.  Our little guy is showing no distress, it's just my body acting up.  Thankfully there was no change to my cervix with the contractions.  I have felt pretty crampy again today so I'm a little on edge but hope they stay at bay and I can make it another couple of weeks.

    I haven't used anything yet but I do have some coco butter at home to use eventually.

    I'm glad to see lots of people hitting some good milestones!  Keep up the good work.

  • @morgan- I'm glad you're getting your pumpkin spice latte!  My hubby brought one in for me today too.  Delish!  I tried to order coffee and a chocolate milk with breakfast to make my own...won't do that again.  ;)

  • @Kneenah- congrats on making to full term!!
    @sftbalbabe- I wonder the same thing about the Procardia.  I will be taking mine for another 2-3 weeks.
    @Bossy-yay for 27!

    I slept so-so last night.  I've got so much pressure on my bladder, I'm up at least every couple hours to go pee.  My pelvic area and pubic bone hurts and turning over (which I do a million times a night) hurts like hell.

    34 weeks today!  I'm feeling really anxious because I had DD at 34w5d.  It's nerve-wracking not knowing if I'll go into labor this week or in 6 weeks.  Had my weekly P17 injection today...only 2 more to go!  Last week at my prenatal visit,  I had some protein in my urine (+1).  Doc said my BP wasn't high (108/79) so he wasn't really worried about it, that we'll just keep an eye on it.  Not pregnant, my BP usually runs on the lower side, though.  When I went in for my injection today, my BP was 129/80.  I asked the nurse if it was okay and she said it was fine.  I did make sure to tell her that pre-pregnancy, my BP is usually lower.  My heart rate was 108, which she seemed more concerned about.  I have another week until my next prenatal appointment so I'm feeling a bit anxious about all this, too.

    Qotd:  I use cocoa butter all over.  Every once in a while, I'll use a body butter on my belly.  I need to do that today because my belly is looking quite dry.

  • hjweber- congrats on 34, such a great milestone!  My last BP was around the same as yours, and my doc wasn't concerned either.  I've noticed at my appts, if I get called back right away, my BP is higher, I think because my body, which is used to laying down these days, hasn't recovered from the walk up to the office and such yet. When I end up sitting there waiting for a while, my BP seems to be lower when they check it.

    JandM- sorry you ended up in the hospital, but glad to hear the contractions haven't changed the cervix, which is great.  Hope things slow down soon so you can go back home.  And that's too funny about your attempt to make your own latte, lol!

    bossy- hope your appt goes well today.

  • Just wanted to report back on PT consult.  She gave me an IT band stretch that should help with hip discomfort.  Lying on your back put one leg straight out and raise the leg, same side as hip, that you want to stretch.  Get a sheet or scarf to put around the bottom of your foot.  Keeping the raised leg straight, bring it across your body perpendicular to the resting leg.  This should give a stretch on the outside of the thigh and hip.  You can pull the stretched leg higher or lower to get a better stretch.

    Also, for round ligament pain close to hip bones: again, start laying on your back.  Hang leg closest to side of bed off the bed.  Keep resting leg bent, foot flat on bed.  Stretch leg as far off the bed as you can, while still keeping bum on bed.  You should feel the stretch in the hip flexor, right where the RLP usually is.  If you want a more intense stretch, reach for the foot hanging off the bed and bend at knee incorporating quad stretch.

    I hope I was able to explain the stretches well enough.  Please let me know if I didn't.  These stretches helped me a lot!
  • Update. Cervix remains steady i actually think it went up a little .1 . Doc says to " stay down and keep doin what im doin" My DH says this has been a great appt, because its the first appt weve had that didnt require an overnight stay.
  • Happy Wednesday everyone!  Slept pretty good last night, it's much better now that they leave me alone all night.  I'm seriously looking forward to my OWN bed when I get home!

    34w today!  Early this month I had no idea if I'd make it this far and now here I am.  Now just one more day and we get to meet this little girl on Friday.  This whole time I've been trying so hard to keep her in now, I'm just nervous to get her out!  All we can hope for is minimal NICU time.  I'm anxious to just get over the hump of the c-section and knowing how she does.  Tomorrow is my last US with the MFM, Thursdays have had some sort of drama since I got here- so hopefully nothing tomorrow!

    I'm not using enough lotion, I know that!  My room bathroom is pretty tiny so I don't hang out in there too much.  And I hate to stand in my room half-naked since it's a revolving door here.  I've tried to put some Aveno baby on my belly but I know the 2x day US's and the gel is giving me awful dry skin.  Aveno baby wasn't really my first choice, but it was the only think I knew I had at home that would be easy for DH to find when I sent him on the multiple packing adventures.

  • @bossyfnp- yea for a stable cervix and not having to having a sleep over at your appt!!!
    @kneenah- way to make it this far!!  37w is great!!  And I've been meaning to say how cute you and DH were in your shower pics!
    @hjweber- curious to know if your DD went to NICU at 34w5d.  I'm nervous about that the most since DD will be 34w2d.
    @lsugirl- hang in there, I'm sure it seems daunting at 23w, but I'm now a firm believer that even modified bed rest can help so many of these crazy things that come about!

  • Ole- good luck on Friday!!!!  I know I was told that over 34 weeks was just hit or miss as far as NICU stays, so I hope your LO either doesn't need the NICU at all or just needs it for a few days.

    Bossy- yay to a good appt!

    Morgan- thanks, your descriptions are good- I will try them out!

    My DD did go to NICU for 12 days.  She was born at 4lbs15oz and came out crying.  No breathing issues.  She latched right on when I was able to go down and see her and drank from preemie bottles just fine.  They had her in a controlled incubator to help her maintain her temp and mostly monitored for body temp, pulse ox, weight gain, and her suck/swallow reflex.  I've also heard it's a hit and miss when it comes to NICU at this point.  I sometimes am bitter with the fact that they kept her and wouldn't send her home with us but at the same time, I am grateful for the care she received and that they wanted to make sure she was 100% before sending her home.  I know someone who just had twin boys at 34w (5.11 & 5.3) and had zero NICU time and are going home with mom tomorrow.  It just really depends on where you deliver and what the medical team decides.  I wish you the best of luck.  Even if she does have to go to NICU, it will probably only be for the duration of your hospital stay or shortly longer (fingers crossed!)

  • 35 weeks today! I slept awesome last night until I had a terrible dream that I started bleeding heavily in the middle of the night. I woke up like 3 different times just to check and make sure it was just a dream. Now I have been having cramping all day, which sucks and is uncomfortable. Can anyone do anything with their exercise ball while on bed rest? I asked at my appt yesterday if I could just kind of sit on it for a couple minutes a day and sway my hips from side to side and I was told no, at least not yet. I was bummed because I think it would help with my hip and lower back pain and would also help engage baby more and loosen my hips/pelvis area up. Qotd: I use cocoa butter.
