Embarrassing Childhood Memories: Random GTKY

I have no idea what made me think of this but.....

I was remembering the other day how in 5th grade (after learning sex ed in school) I came home and told my mom I wanted to be a sex educator and this was what I was sure I wanted to do with my life. Um...I'm sure she was a little worried about me especially when I started drawing anatomical diagrams. Anyway, maybe I was the only weird kid.

I swallowed a light bulb off of my Barbie salon, it was bigger than a Christmas light bulb, but smaller than a normal bulb (obv). It broke in my stomach, so I had to have it surgically removed.

It's wasn't so embarrassing then, it's more embarrassing now when people like my OB ask about previous surgeries.

I was a competitive gymnast and one day at practice when I was about 12 the boy on the guys team I had a crush on was there practicing too. We were on vault and he was at the parallel bars next to us. I started my vault run and saw him watching me... Ran straight into the vault and knocked the wind outta myself.

My twin sister and I were the Angela in the church Christmas cantata when we were 4. My mother sewed angel costumes complete with halos. Sis and I got into a fistfight in the middle of Silent Night, we were rolling around on the altar. And yes, this was all filmed!

When I was in 4th grade I was sitting outside one day during recess. A group of {kool} kids we nearby at a picnic table and this one kid was pretending to crash a styrofoam airplane. They kept crashing it and it kept breaking into pieces. I went over there with a do-goody purpose and said, very matter-of-factly "you know everytime you break that styrofoam it emits a gas that increases the size of the hole in the ozone layer." Hand on my hip, head bobbing and all. Man did i redeem some cool points that day.. Face palm. Gotta admire a kid with a strong desire to protect the environment! Lol

I came to the United States when I was 8 years old and only knew a few words in English. My first week at an American school this little girl named Jessica came up to me and asked me if I wanted to play with her. Well I heard/understood "pelear" which means to fight. Since I thought she wanted to fight I pushed her and pulled her hair across the playground. The teachers stopped the fight and I waited for my mom and Jessica's mom at the principals office. Jessica told her side of the story and I told my side. The principal realized the confusion and explained to me I can't just go around hitting people. My mother explained that in Domican Repulic kids would always pick fights with me because they thought I was rich. My punishment was cleaning the desk in my classroom before school. Jessica's
mother wanted to get me expelled and tried for weeks to make this happen. Apperantly, Jessica was extremely shy, and when she saw I didn't have friends like her, she thought we could be friends. In middle school we had a
mutual friend who told me she hated me.

I see her every couple of years and everytime she gives me the dirtiest look in the world....and everytime I feel like sh*t.

Ha, I also swallowed money and bath beds that I thought were candy.

Apparently, I loved swallowing random things.

My entire childhood was pretty embarrassing actually. I was a nerdy kid who was in all the school bands and wheeled out to perform at all the Christmas concerts. I also had a terrible bowl haircut for a while and wore pants and Dr Marten boots. Kids would march behind me shouting "left, right, left, right!" I spent a lot of my lunch times in the music room.

I was a cheerleader my first 2 years of highschool (I went to a private school and they let ANYONE join) and at one of our cheer competitions I held a sign upside down.

I also started my arm on fire one Christmas Eve at dinner when I was reaching for something and put my sweater over the candle.

So... this is a grown-up one...but 'pregnancy' related...

I was dreaming one night about being pregnant. This was about 12 years ago, so I wasn't anywhere near the stage of being ready to be pregnant or wanting to be pregnant. Anyway... I had such a vivid dream that I felt my water break. And I peed the bed. And my (now) ex was there. I also was renting from my summer employer and had to bring the sheets to work to wash them.

I signed up for a talent show at school with a friend and we were going to sing a song, but last minute she decided she didn't want to sing so we ended up trying to come up with a dance and roped my sister in and went up on stage and did the worst dance ever in front of the school and parents. I just hope that if anyone video taped the talent show they destroyed that part.
