PUPPs or eczema flare up?

Ugh, I am an itchy mess, ladies! I have random rashes on my lower legs, the edges of my armpits, under my boobs and on my lower belly. I do have eczema fairly regularly, but I also have read a little bit about the PUPPs rash and am wondering if it's that. I have an OB appt next Friday and can ask then, but didn't know if I should call sooner?

I've been pretty lucky to this point in terms of pregnancy symptoms, but I feel like between the sciatic pain/hip nonsense and this rash that my luck is catching up with me. :-/ hey, it could be worse.

I think pupps usually starts on your belly and your hands and feet. Those are all spots that I get eczema flare ups quite a bit. Couldn't hurt to call the doc of you're comcerned though.

  • My eczema is usually on my hands and feet, which is why the trunk rash is weirding me out! When it first happened a few days ago, I thought I had accidentally eaten something I shouldnt (I have some food allergies) but at this point, I'm pretty sure that's not it. So frustrating!

  • I had PUPPS during the third tri with DS. It started on my thighs in patches and went down my legs. It was itchy as heck! I remember using a goats milk and oatmeal soap followed up with either Eucerine or Lupriderm. I hope you can get some relief!

  • So... Turns out its neither, and we don't know WTF it is. Saw both my OB and an adult medicine doc, and neither is sure what it is. So I'm on combo steroid/anti-fungal cream and can use Benadryl nightly x7 days. If it doesn't get better, then I'll likely need oral steroids and they'll push up my GD test from fri to wed to get a clean reading before going on the steroid therapy. And if I fail the 1 hour, I'll have to do the 3 hour right away that same day. Joy. But whatever it is, shouldn't affect the baby, so it could be so much worse!

  • I feel ya in the rash department! Mine is shingles (I just posted on the board earlier about it) and it's totally killing me at this point.

Do you think it could be heat rash? It tend to show up in armpits and under breasts if your clothes are tight or you're overheating a bit. Seborrheic dermatitis also comes to mind based on those locations.

We should totally start a rash thread. All my research I did last night showed me how common rashes pop up during pregnancy!

  • I asked about heat rash, especially since I already get eczema, and my OB said it didn't look like anything typical... Not eczema, not heat rash, not PUPPs, not yeast. It looks different on different areas of my body (raised in some places, not raised in others) and the pieces that look the same don't make any sense (my outer elbow and underarm look the same, my shin and lower belly look the same). Apparently I stumped her. ;-)

I am sooo sorry about the shingles, that sounds miserable. I was comforted that rashes seem super common in pregnant women, I don't feel like such a freak. ;-)
