Just Starting!! :) TTC

Hello everyone! My husband and I have been married a little over a year, I am 24 and he is 27. We have decided to start TTC! Does anyone have and tips or suggestions?

Also I have been on BC since I was 16, is it going to take awhile for my body to wean off the bc?? I was on the pill for a while and also the nuva ring recently for awhile... any suggestions?? SO EXCITED :)

Congrats!  There are a couple apps you could check out to learn more about your cycles and to pinpoint the best time to "try."  A lot of people use Fertility Friend, and I use one called Kindara.  You can also try OPKs.    Either way...good luck!

  • You can get pregnant the first month off the pill, but it can take healthy couples a year to get pregnant. And expect your body will do different things for awhile, and do not expect your period to come every 28 days, even if you feel like everything has been "regular" in the past, it's a whole new ball game when you get off BC. It can be easy for many to interpret these "symptoms" as pregnancy signs when they often are just your body regulating to coming off BC. As far as tips, fertility friend website and the book Taking Charge of your fertility are highly recommended. Many women chart their BBT to get familiar with their cycles and learn when they ovulate. Welcome to the boatd and GL TTC!

  • I would definitely go to the TTGP board and check out the newbie link there at the top- lots of great information about trying to get pregnant and how to give your body the best chance of conceiving! GL!

  • It didn't take any time for me to regulate after getting off the pill, but it is known to.

  • Basically what everyone else said. It varies woman to woman. I've known girls that got pregnant the next month after stopping the pill and I've know girls that it took years to get pregnant. There are other aspects to conceiving too I'm sure. Not just the pill. Good luck!
  • It depends on your body as well as the bc you used. I never used the pill. I used Implanon and never got a period while on it. I got it out 3 weeks ago and started my period yesterday, but I've heard it take longer for others to regulate.

Good luck! My DH and I just started TTC too!

  • Same as above....everyone's body is different, but my gyno said your body is off the hormones completely w/I 7 days. Unless you took the shot...that goes into the muscle and can take up to 9 months to leave your system. Try the OPKs to track your ovulating. You can buy them at dollar tree. You will go through a lot of them! They worked for a couple of my friends and I just tried them last month (just started also). I think they seem easier than your BBT. Good luck and just have fun!
  • That's so exciting! Good Luck!

  • I'm just starting myself but have been off the pill for 3 months. I recommend getting some apps so you can at least track your ovulation and temp. I use My Days and Ovulation calculator.
