Do we wait to sleep train because of teething? Emma is sleeping 6 hours total a day right now....she wakes up 6-7 times a night. We need to sleep train because its been 2 months of crazy sleep patterns.
This may sound strange, but does she have distinctive cries? The cry/fussing when DH is in pain is pretty different from the others. He's angry sounding, almost, and his cry is pretty staccato. I only ask because if you can tell whether she's crying from teething pain or if she's having separation anxiety or something of that nature that might lead you to sleep train, it may make it easier to decide. On nights that DH sounds like I described above, he gets whatever he needs that night until he falls asleep. On nights when I can tell that he's having a somewhat rough night and just plain needs sleep, I go in once to check diapers and sheets for accidents, but then I let him work it out. It helps that we have a video monitor and I can see exactly how he's doing/coping.
