Babies: 6 - 9 Months

what does your baby eat for solids?

My 6 month old has had peas, squash, zucchini, sweet potato, pears, apples, avocado, baby yogurt, brown rice cereal, can't think of anything else. lol...I make her baby food with the baby bullet. It says to wait until 7 mos. for certain foods like asparagus, carrots, white potatoes...I'm ready to try more variety. Can you give me some ideas? thanks everyone!

Re: what does your baby eat for solids?

  • Broocoli, carrots, green beans, bananas, mangos, peaches that's all I can think of for now. Lol!
  • Loading the player...
  • I also have baby bullet, but I have read its ok to give carrots and mashed potatoes. My lo is 6 months and has had squash, zucchini, sweet potato, mashed potato, peas, pears, banana, Apple, rice cereal, avacado. All fresh. I am gonna try yogurt and meats next and carrots.

    New Mommy!!!

  • I started making my own purees but now that he has tried just about everything that we normally eat I have switched to BLW.

In the purees he had apricots, apples, applesauce(homemade), pears, peaches, strawberries, bananas, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, peas, green beans, carrots, lima beans, and corn.

On the BLW side he has had all of the above in small chunks plus steak, chicken and cheese.

and since I am such a bad momma he has also tasted vanilla pudding, vanilla ice cream, and peanut butter cookies.   Not a lot but just tastes. :)

Ohh and I am almost sure that on one of our many outings feed the horses he has eaten his fair share of hay. ;)

Our pediatrician said he could eat anything except fried foods.

  • I was torn between purees and BLW, but I think we may do a combo of both like you. thanks everybody

  • My LO has eaten apples, sweet potato, carrots, a couple different kinds of squash, peaches, mashed potato, beef, chicken, liver, avocado, banana, and green beans.  He also likes sucking on citrus slices like lemon and orange.
  • Apples, peaches, pears, prunes, sweet potatoes, carrots and squash.  Couldn't do green beans or bananas.  Haven't tried peas.  Didn't like rice cereal  (LO is 7.5 months - we started at 6 months)

  • DD loves squash and sweet potatoes and will eat carrots, peas and green beans if there's some squash or sweet potatoes mixed in.  We're doing bananas and apples next.  I've also tried pumpkin but that made her poop really black and it freaked me out so no more.
  • This morning he had eggs, toast and about a teaspoon of my 100% cranberry concord grape juice.   He loved the eggs and I love watching him chew/gum his food :)

  • Chicken, liver, and egg yolk (the allergen is just in the whites).

Squash, pumpkin, sweet potato, apples, pears, beans, peas, broccoli, and banana.

We do a mix of purees and BLW.
  • We gave our 6 month old asparagus last night. I have never heard of that. I think anything is fine except fried foods, salt, and honey.
