Ugly cry over ten dollars!

The backstory is I like my dr, and love his pa and nurse. Dr had to have back surgery (delayed by his surgeon's heart attack!) and decided when I was 32+ Weeks to close his practice. Another dr was arranged to do my RCs in 11-12-13, and the pa would take care of the remainder if my prenatal care. Fine, so far.

Last week I was told that that plan had been scrapped. With two weeks to go I have to see a brand new dr and answer questions like "how far along are you", "oh, you're having a cs, why?", "when?" "Why are you having weekly nsts?"

My breaking point came when they charged me a copay for the visit and said they'd get back to me tomorrow and let me know if I have to pay the entire maternity copay again for the new dr. (Not a lot of money, just upsetting). I started bawling when I got in my car and haven't stopped. Realized, they never even asked for a urine sample either.

Ugh, I know my hormones are playing with me, but couldn't someone at least looked at my records BEFORE I got there. That's the only reason I picked this dr...every other dr would have had to wait 30 days to get records...

Thanks for letting me vent!

  • Oh my god, that's terrible you had to switch. Hopefully it will get better, if not, only 2 weeks to go ;)

  • That sucks!  But sometimes doctor's offices are just clueless/lazy about reading charts.  I called to reschedule my Wednesday appointment to Friday and the receptionist offered me an appointment 2 weeks from Wednesday-- no thanks lady I'm 39 weeks!!  I would try not to take it too personally and I hope that they get their act together soon!!

  • Omg I would be so upset too..I don't blame you for crying. I guess you are going to have to advocate for yourself so make sure you ask lots of questions and don't accept less that fully explanatory answers from those people. Not sure how it works there but in my case, my dr might not be the one to deliver anyway as it depends if she's on call that night, or someone else...but still very upsetting for you.
  • Thanks ladies! I do try to be laid back and trust the professionals (because I hope for the same treatment in my teaching), but I agree I'm going to have to speak up. I know on "go" day, anyone can show up and I'm surprisingly calm about that...I just don't want anything missed between now and then. Hopefully, I've read enough bump boards to know what to look for! Again, many thanks for the suggestions!
