Christmas portraits

When should Christmas pictures be taken by? I know there is no deadline but I also know that many photographers book quickly, especially the good ones. Do you have a date set yet for your Christmas pics? Are you even getting Christmas pics? If you don't have a date set yet, around when are you thinking? Also feel free to AW last years Christmas pics if you got them done.

We are doing them one of the first weekends of nov. Our photog is doing some mini sessions and I'm just waiting for her to publish the dates.

We are going up north for a couple days around TGiving and we will have a friend who is a photographer take a few photos of us on Wellesley's campus.

(Have baby and take cute photos on campus had been on my bucket list for ten years. I'm psyched!)

We are doing ours nov 9. We did a private photog friend the last few times but this time we are going to jcpenney. I've used them a lot in the past and always been happy with the results

We are doing our photographer's Christmas mini session on Nov 9th. From what I have seen, most photographers do their mini session the first of Nov. Last year we did our pics the first weekend in December. It was a little stressful to wait that long because of the time crunch of ordering and sending out Christmas cards.

We had ours taken in early October, because I wanted some fall colors in the pics. Last year we had them taken in December and it was hectic trying to order them in time for the holidays. Ideally, I like to send them in early December.

We used a fall mini session to get our Xmas pictures. Our photographer books up quickly in Oct. and Nov. and she doesn't do pics after Thanksgiving.

Last year B's 3 month pictures were around Christmas so we snapped a family shot too. This year we had his 1 year in September and I'll use those along with a family shot from his 1 year pictures.

November 24th. The photographer promised a quick turn around with editing so that I can order Christmas cards.

We usually do ours the weekend after Thanksgiving or the first Weekend in December. Our photographer is great about getting the photos back fast.

Ours is scheduled for Nov 30. We do holiday photos with just our kids and one with all my nieces and nephews (7 kids). We get the finished photos about 1 week later and I make my own cards. I shoot for mailing my cards by dec 15.

Ours are Saturday. We won't do them again, but since we had a leftover GC for our photographer, we're having them done. :-)

My aunt is a photographer so she shoots us on Thanksgiving and then I just upload the photo(s) from her to Shutterfly and make our cards to get out by mid December.

Do you all do photo cards to send out for the Holidays then? How many do you send out? Not gonna lie, between the card and the postage and sending out about 30-35 cards, it's about $70 to do Christmas cards, OY.

I'm doing a mini session with my photographer on 11/16, so hopefully will have back by Thanksgiving and out by 1st week of December. Last year used Picture People, and they were cute, but since then I found an awesome photographer and will always use her.

I am horrible and don't plan on doing Christmas cards this year so we are not getting pictures done. We have so much going on and will be in Disney World for two weeks before Christmas and I do not want to rush to get it all done before we leave. I will take a ton of pics in Disney, but it will be to late to make cards and send them, we don't get home until the 19th.

If you're planning on using it for a card, I'd recommend the first or second weekend of November at the latest.
