TTC #2 help

Hi Ladies, I have been very MIA (as you can tell by my very old pic of LO in my ticker!) but have been lurking. Must say I accidentally clicked on Aug 2013 and was surprised by all the drama! This place has always been great. ANYWAYS, the reason I'm writing. We have been TTC for #2. I full weaned in Sept and got my first PP period Sept 25th. I have no idea how long my cycle is or if this first one is out of whack. I am now a few days late and took a pregnancy test this morning but negative. What should I do? I'm feeling very in limbo with no period, but no pregnancy symptoms/neg test. Do I just wait a few more days and test again?  Call gyno? Anyone go through this? I also live out of the country and the pregnancy test are those cheapy paper ones - not too sensitive, I think. Any advice would be very appreciated.TIA!

Re: TTC #2 help

  • I wouldn't think anything of a long cycle if it's only your first or second. My first 4 or 5 were all really different (ranged from 25-40 days). It's pretty much evened out now, but it was all over the place at first even though I was regular pre-baby. Good luck!

  • Yes I don't think there's any reason to see your doctor now unless it's been a very long time with no period. You'll probably just need to wait for thing to normalize. I have normally long cycles and just used cheap ovulation predictor strips starting on cycle day 10 until I ovulated, so I could track things and know when to either expect a period or pregnancy test.

  • My first three cycles were wonky. I starting temping and realized that I was ovulating anywhere from CD12-CD17. So you may not be late at all, you may have just ovulated later than you usually do...it will most likely take a bit for your cycle to normalize. Once your period comes, I would start temping. Good luck! :)

  • It takes a while to get normal cycles back after stopping breast feeding! As PP's have said, you can start temping and charting and checking for ovulation signs. I'd read the link at the top of the TTGP board as a refresher, too.

  • I am still breastfeeding, but my cycles came back in June. I noticed that I was ovulating at least a week lantern my cycle than normal, even though my periods were still regular. With that short of a luteal phase (7-8 days) it was pretty much impossible to give a fertilized egg a chance to implant. So I started on a progesterone supplement, and acupuncture, and to our surprise it worked the very first cycle! So as PP have said, tracking your cycle and finding out when you ovulate can give you a good picture of what's going on. Good luck!

  • Thanks for the responses. Still no AF but once it does come I will start temping
