OB/GYN & Hospital Recommendations

Currently my OB/GYN is in the Seven Oaks Womens Center group.  I love all the doctors there but I hated the Methodist Hospital.  I delivered there this past January and had several horrible experiences from the staff.  I've heard this is pretty common there as well.  I'm pregnant again and due in June so am looking to switch doctors to have a better hospital experience.  I've heard great things about the Baptist Hospital in Stone Oak and am considering Northeast OB/GYN Associates as well as Women Partners OB/GYN.  Any thoughts on these hospitals and practices?  Thanks!

  • I had gestational diabetes so I needed to be induced.  I came in on a Wednesday night to have pitosin (sp?) and deliver Thursday.  I didn't actually deliver my baby until 12:04AM Friday.  So I was there quite a while and had many nurses.  Some were wonderful and I thank God they were with me but other nurses were not as good.  Because of my gestational diabetes I needed certain IVs and my blood sugar level needed be at a certain number.  IV bags were forgotten twice and my blood sugar dropped below where it should have been several times because of this.  I was already feeling labor pains and then having to deal with dropped blood sugar levels on top of this was horrible.  That could have easily been avoided.  An older nurse stopped by my room a few times and got onto a few of my nurses because they had forgotten my IVs and other times IVs were doubled up when should not have been.  I did end up having an epidural and my baby was not in the right position so I needed to lay down and have a nurse help turn my body every 30 min to get baby in right position.  However, one nurse came in and said well, let's try sitting you up.  That was a bad idea!  I ended up with a  spinal head ache, worst ever!  Another nurse came in and started yelling about how she should not have me sitting up, I should have been laying down the whole time.  Then I was left alone for quite a while and when the nurse came into move me I couldn't move because I was numb all the way up to my face.  I could hardly feel it when they touched my checks and apparently from what the nurse said I should have been checked on earlier so that wouldn't happen.  In the end when it was time to push I had two incredible nurses who really helped me out.  So I just decided for my next labor/delivery that I wouldn't chance another bad experience and try somewhere else.

  • North Central baptist hospital in Stone Oak is AMAZING. Delivered my first baby there in July. Loved it! I recommend going with Riverwalk OBGYN. Their office is the building right next to the hospital. Any of the doctors in that practice are awesome. Dr Arya & Dr Willams are my favorite :) check them out!

  • Oh no I am set to deliver at Methodist in May. I really really love my OB/GYN at Seven Oaks so I am kind of hesitant about moving, but I also am not one to put up with poor practices at a hospital. Guess I have some investigating to do.
