When I steamed them and used a little left over water from the pot to get it to right thickness..and then froze in little cube containers I bought and then popped them out and froze in freezer bags. I sometimes add a little breast milk if it seems to thick..this was true for the sweet potatoes I made.
I just put a cube in a little Tupperware bowl each evening and it thaws in the refrigerator overnight and is ready the next day. I don't thin it further with BM.
No. If I want it warm I run warm water on the Tupperware (like with warming BM). You could probably microwave for like 10 seconds and let it sit to be sure there aren't any hotspots.
I take some out, put it in a bowl and let it thaw in the fridge. If I need to rush things along, put the bowl in the microwave for 10 seconds (and let it cool, obviously). Sometimes I need to add formula to make it the consistency B likes, but not all the time.
I pop one into a tiny Tupperware then in the microwave for about 30 secs on power level 3 (out of 10). It's the defrost setting so it more melts the cube not cook it. Then I add BM after to make it the right consistency

I also nuke mine this way. The Gerber containers say you can heat them up in the microwave after being in the refrigerator so I figured it was okay. It says just to stir thoroughly before feeding for hot spots. So I do that and also check it. I only feed at room temp.
Re: Solids in Ice Cube Trays
I have only made one batch so far and thinned out the purée before I froze. Next time I may thin out after thawing.
