We need a rug

We got rid of our sectional around Christmas and got a brown leather couch.  Add that to the brown leather recliner my husband refuses to part with and the brown leather cocktail ottoman I finally sold yesterday, plus the brown/blue/tan rug and our living room could be a cave.  Once the ottoman was gone, the rug became very evident.  I paid $50 for it a few years ago and MH hates it.  He said to start looking for something else.  I told him we could run to Target and he said he wants a GOOD rug, high quality and not to be afraid to spend a few hundred on it.  I'm a cheapskate, so this is not sitting well with me.  If I spend that much, I have to love it and be able to commit for awhile.  Where the heck do I find rugs????

I looked at Lowe's and Home Depot yesterday, and Target's website today.  I kinda want the trellis design, but need a certain blue and cream.  This could be a nightmare.

Re: We need a rug

  • @hijinx I wish we had a PB outlet!  Darn you.

I've tried to tell MH that spills will happen, but he doesn't care.  We don't have carpet anywhere, so it's nice to have a rug and the one in there just looks horrible for potential buyers.  Thanks girls.  I'll try your suggestions.  I found a few on Overstock, but the price hurts my feelings.  I can't coupon this! Ha

I've seen great rugs at Menards, Home Depot, etc. but you said you already looked there.  Do you have a Gordman's?  I remember there rug section being really good at our store.  Otherwise my other go to store is Shopko, which is similar to Target/Walmart just not as big.  They do have an online area though.  Also, have you ever looked at Overstock.com?
I actually just found 2 on Overstock.  I have never even heard of the other places you said.  What is Gordman's??

  • Rugs USA is where we've gotten all of our really nice rugs. Amazing selection and always running some kind of sale. Amazon has a lot also.

It's like a TJ Max, but way better quality of items.  I found Silver Capris there for 1/2 price one time.  Hopefully you know what a TJ Max is, otherwise it's a discounted department store.  They have homegoods, toys, clothes, candles, rugs, paintings, etc.  I go there when I'm decorating.
I know what that is.  We need a Gordman's then!

  • I've also heard good things about Rugs USA!  I also had luck at overstock recently, and I was able to find a coupon online.

The new West Elm at the Summit! I am obsessed with pretty much all of the rugs.

ETA: Holy cow, they are expensive. Maybe not the best suggestion.... Maybe you could wait for a sale??

  • Have you checked out Homegoods? I got one there maybe 4 years ago ( a 9x7 for around $250) and it has held up really nicely! It is in our dining room, which doesn't get much traffic in our current house, but I used to walk on it every single day in my old house.

I was told no Homegoods because that's where we got ours.  Haha.  MH is a dodo.  I think we'll probably go with one I found on Rugs USA.  With their prices, we may be able to get one for our room too!
