I am craving anything fried this week. It's the first time this entire pregnancy, 22w, that anything has sounded good. I'd consider eating a fried fork at this moment if someone gave it to me lol.
Nothing really tastes great but nothing that's just terrible.
A recipe that's been cooked for years that I picked up some pork chops for yesterday.
Brown chops with whatever seasoning you prefer in a small amount of oil in skillet.
Remove chops and put a can of cream of mushroom soup in the skillet with anywhere from 1/2 to the whole soup can of milk. Depending on how far you want the gravy to go is how much milk you add.
Stir in the skillet until the soup is lump free.
Add chops to the soup in the skillet and let simmer about 30 min depending on how thick your chops are.
Serve over rice and with a veggie.

Eta: can also be done with hamburger patties.

I can't stand chicken at all or turkey. Which stinks because I'm getting sick of pork chops and beef but tonight I'm making tacos with fresh chopped veggies just using taco seasoning so nothing special. I am craving anything BBQ and I'm dying for ribs!

Im technically craving salty things but...I have now entered the "Everything is amazing and delicious and I have to have it" phase of my pregnancy. Up until maybe a week ago everything just tasted off...not bad just not interested. Now, as I told my husband, I need a chaperone when I go grocery shopping. Today at Jewel, while normally going aisle to aisle I was all over because awesome things would pop in my head. I went there for fruit, lunch meat and yogurt and wound up with a car full....including Strawberry Quick which I haven't had in decades!!! LOL

No ideas for dinner... Probably Kraft shells and cheese another brilliant idea from today's trip !!!

Yay, love it! I am craving salty foods, and my new obsession is cucumbers drenched in balsamic vinegar.... yuuum. I still can't stand sugary sweets, bleck, which is ironic because I'm in a sweet baking mood today! I made some homemade tapioca just now and am in the process of making these:

No cravings or aversions here.  We just had Bojangles for dinner since we were on the road but we're finally home. It was delicious but we ate a lot of junk during our trip, back to healthy food this week!
Lately we've been into Laab, (also known as Larb).  It's like the stuff they put in lettuce wraps at some asian restaurants and it's pretty easy.  Ground pork (or turkey or chicken to be healthier), cilantro, green onions, red pepper flakes, lime juice and fish sauce served over rice.   Here's the recipe we use https://www.thaitable.com/thai/recipe/laab

    1. So I haven't had any real cravings yet other than eggs, but that was more last week than now - all I wanted for every meal were eggs severed any way didn't matter.  Other than that I've been more inclined to go for savory things and not so much sweets, which I guess is a good thing given all the Halloween candy that's in our house right now!
    2. I cannot stand the thought of anything grilled, which is so odd for me because I love things on the grill.  We had a work event this week and they were serving grilled pork and steak kabobs...took one bite and was done.  The thought of that grilled char taste is now repulsive.  Also, onions, which I usually love as well!  We got house salads with our dinner on Friday night and the smell of the onions was so overwhelming!  Finally, it's not really an aversion since I've been able to eat other mini chocolate candies since, but the other day I went to eat a mini Snickers and I spit it right out into the trash.  Snickers are my fave candy, so that was so strange for me.
    3. One of our weekly staples is turkey tacos. We just get an Or.te.ga kit, cook up some lean ground turkey, cut up avocados, tomatoes, lettuce, and whatever other veggies you like, and shredded cheddar/Mexi.can-like cheese - and you're done!

I'm so not a cook, but now that I'm KU I know I'm going to need to learn so I can cook for LO eventually :-)  DH is the cook in the house, as he used to work at a restaurant when he was in high school and it's been his hobby ever since...I'm the lame one so I'm loving this post!  Easy recipes are my friend!

Edited: In addition, I will say that no matter what or when I eat things are actually tasting kinda bland, and I tend to get full really quickly.  No real nausea yet, though *knock on wood*

Y'all are making me hungry!!!  I have had a few weird cravings, mostly unhealthy.  I bought Cheetos for the first time ever!  I am starting to get hungry more often, but still not much sounds good, which is annoying.  I cannot stand the thought of avocado now when that used to be really yummy!  I was going to make chicken and biscuits but my DH is still at work, so I might just heat up a frozen pizza!

Nothing really yet is making me turn up my nose, I just have NO idea what I want to eat! I was enjoying days without any nausea and everything tasted awesome. I had a Jimmy Johns sub yesterday and just devoured it :)
Today the nausea is back ::::shakes fist:::: so I stocked up on Ginger Snaps, ginger ale and some cheez-it's that will come in handy for my all day snacking to combat the tummy trouble. I've got some chicken-broccoli-rice casserole in the oven for H, but I am probably going to have a grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner, lol!

My cravings change all the time. For about a week, all I wanted was Hawaiian punch. This week, I would give my left arm for mini corn dogs and I can't find them ANYWHERE. Essentially, NOTHING sounds good, aside from what I'm craving. :( I wish that there was more that sounded appealing to me.

As for a recipe......I wish I had something. I'll be interested to see what everyone else says!

I'm so happy the response to this thread is so great! Can't wait to try out some recipes!

Like most of you have said, I've been a little hot and cold with different things at different times. Chicken in general sounds pretty gross unless it's fried, rotisserie (ie greasy as hell) or stuffed with something delish. Everything with cheese sounds great. I've been craving more salty than sweet. I scarfed some fresh kettle corn yesterday (it was DD's whoops) and man that hit the spot!

I've really been craving sushi...There's a local place that makes a fried spicy tuna with this delicious spicy sauce. I've requested sushi for my PPD dinner.

I made an egg casserole dish that was devoured in 30 minutes. It's really easy. I wish I had more because I'd eat it again for dinner. Cook up some bacon in the oven (so it doesn't splatter and leave a nasty bacon smell in the house). 375 for 15 minutes. Butter a casserole dish and line it with hash browns. Pour melted butter over the hash browns. Cook at 350 for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. Meanwhile, chop up bacon into bite size pieces. Whisk 6 eggs and about 1/2 a cup of milk. When hash browns are cool, add bacon to the top, then pour egg mixture on top. You can add green chilis if you like them. Cover with a nice layer of cheese (we use Monterey Jack but I think Pepper Jack would have been really good).  Cover with foil and cook for 35 minutes. Remove foil and cook for another 10. SOOO good!

It's supposed to rain here tomorrow/Tuesday, so DH and I will be going with the old stand by - chili with corn bread. We are going to try out an alfredo recipe, too. I'll try to use the crock pot this week too. I'll share that recipe next week. :)

Oh my gosh! I love cucumbers with balsamic!! Have you tried this... cucumbers, tomato wedges, chunks of avocado and (if you can stand it which some days I can and others I can't) a tiny bit of red onion... mix it in a nice balsamic and add a bit of salt and pepper. YUM!

@MJC1116 OMG YES! I haven't done it with onions, but I've used mozzarella balls cut in half. So cucumbers, tomato, avocado, mozzarella and balsamic with a touch of olive oil and salt and pepper! LOVE that stuff! :-)

I haven't had any consistent cravings.  This week I am craving Pad Thai!  I gotten it 3 times already this week!

I still have an aversion to coffee which makes me so sad!  I can't wait until I can tolerate it again.

I rarely cook.  Our take out/eat out budget is around $450 a month.  This is going to have to change now that we have twins on the way!  I am going to try to make more crock pot meals, and see about DH helping more.  He works a lot less than me, so I am hoping he will start meal prep

Hi- love this idea! I am not a creative cook so maybe this will help me a bit :)
    1) all of my cravings are for junk food. I have been buying Doritos and fudge swirl cookies- I haven't bought Doritos in years and I can't tell you the last time I had those cookies! I also can only tolerate cheese sandwiches for lunch... Prior to this pregnancy, I brought salad and fruit for lunch!!

    2) I am not liking chicken at all

    3) I am making tacos this week. Just following the seasoning instructions and making with beef. I used to make them with chicken and shred the chicken before adding the seasoning and water. I would use the leftover to make quesadillas and they were awesome! I don't think I can stomach it this time around so ill take the easy route and just ground beef.

I've been craving dairy like it's going out of style (probably b/c I'm lactose-intolerant so LO is stealing all my calcium supply).  No aversions lately, other than my usual picky-eating choices.

I made a baked ziti for Sunday dinner and it was full of super ooey, gooey cheesiness, so I ate like 3 portions!!! OMG. I ate more than DH!

    Recipe is simple:

Brown ground beef with salt & pepper, a little bit of onion powder and garlic powder.
Boil up penne pasta (I used gluten-free) until almost, al dente
In a bowl, combine one egg, a sprinkling of parsley, a container of ricotta cheese, and small cubes of mozzarella cheese (save some slices of mozz. to go on top later).

Get a 9x11" baking pan and a jar of marinara sauce.  Smear a thin layer of sauce on the bottom to prevent sticking.  Then spread a layer of noodles, a layer of the ground beef, a layer of cheese mixture and then a layer of sauce.  Repeat in that order until all ingredients are in the pan, then cover the top with thin slices of mozzarella.

If preparing in advance, cover with foil and pop in fridge.  When ready to cook, bake at 375 for 35 mins.  Remove foil and bake another 20 mins.

    Yummy and pretty simple!

I've been craving Pad Thai, too!! I want to go to our local Thai restaurant and place an order to nibble on throughout the week. I could eat it right now and its not even 8 AM. (I can't blame it on pregnancy, though, because I always want pad thai!)

DH and I both love to cook, so I'm loving this thread! Maybe we can also try to highlight freezable dishes for those getting close to giving birth, who are trying to pack their freezers for those first few weeks?

    1. I'm not having a ton of cravings, but a lot of my aversions have eased up, which is nice! I feel hungry like I used to before first tri, but nothing out of the ordinary so far.

    2. Still not in love with the idea of chicken, avocados, or broccoli - three things that I used to eat all the time before I got KU. I absolutely couldn't stand them during first tri. Now I can deal with them, but don't want them nearly as often as I used to.

    3. We had white turkey chili for dinner Sunday night. Here's our "recipe."

Melt a couple tbsp butter in the bottom of a big pot and cook some chopped onions, bell peppers, and other any other veggies you like (celery, carrot) until tender. Add a couple tbsp flour and cook, stirring, for another few minutes (it make sort of a paste - this is for thickening the chili). Gradually add chicken broth, stirring until smooth. Bring the mixture back up to a simmer, and add cooked ground/shredded turkey (or chicken), 1-2 cans of white beans (rinsed), some frozen corn, whatever else you like. Season with several tbsp of cumin, some garlic powder, salt and pepper. Add some red pepper flake if you like spice. You can let it simmer for a while or throw it in the crock pot (which I love to do). Serve with sour cream, cheese, and/or cilantro, and maybe some cornbread on the side.

This dish is definitely freeze-able and pretty healthy, too! You can make it to your taste by adding more of what you like, taking out what you don't like. It's one of our cold-weather favs.

Hey everyone! I got to 12 weeks yesterday and I'm really hoping the nausea is starting to subside. I still don't want to eat cuts of meat, really. I'm mostly into toast, smoothies, fruit, fresh PINEAPPLE, yogurt, peanut butter, granola bars, high protein cereals, and nuts. I'll also usually eat whatever is put in front of me, but it's best if I don't know what's coming! I don't eat much of it, though.

I've thrown up oatmeal twice, so I'm done with oatmeal for a while!!

This week, I'm trying to cook again. I have three dinner recipes and one dessert recipe on the meal plan for this week! I'm so proud. I made the bacon and butternut squash pasta last night, and it was really very tasty.

(tasty! You could use white cheddar instead of sharp provolone. Also, buy already cubed butternut squash from the grocery store to save time. Do the bacon in the microwave to save time, too).

(after browning the meat, I do the rest of this in the slow cooker for 6 hours on low)

(We always have this on Halloween)

Slow Cooker Kalua Pork (we eat this on Hawaiian Rolls with BBQ sauce or sweet mustard), and it's the easiest recipe EVER:

    Happy cooking, ladies!
