I got my DD one a few weeks ago and she barely fits in it. She likes it but I can not see her sitting in it much longer. She is a BIG 3 mo though with chubby legs.:)
I was going to get one, but then stumbled on all these anti-bumbo articles and blogs on the interwebz. Apparently a lot of physical therapists/child development experts hate it. I decided to not risk it, though I'm sure occasional use is totally fine. I figure babies have been getting along just fine without it for years, so we will too. I know some babies love it!
You are getting such mixed reviews! Both of our boys love them and have since about 3 months old. I also feel like its helping their flat spots. Ours were gifts, but I might look around before paying full price.
Note: I didn't do a ton of research and the anti-bumbo thing could be total BS. I just made a quick decision that I didn't need to buy yet another baby device, especially a controversial one.
We have one- got it used for 10 bucks. We have put DD in it a handful of times and she does like it. I'm thinking now she holds her head up way better (she's 4 months next week)- we might use it a bit more. I don't usually put her in and walk away tho.
Lillian loves hers. DH says it's the only place she sits in it happily as he warms her bottle when I'm not there. Again, we only use it for about 5-10 minutes at a time about once a day.
Mom to three girls and pregnant with #4! L: 7/12/13 C: 5/11/15 E: 3/7/17 Due 11/10/18
We were given 2 as hand-me-downs and I find them really useful, but just for short stretches.
We have a townhome so it's 4 levels...I keep one in the basement and one on the 3rd/4th level. In the basement I use it when we come downstairs to leave from the garage/car, I put him in it while I get myself ready and his car seat ready etc.
Upstairs I use it while I do quick things like flip the laundry, or if I need to do something where I can't hold him or have him in the carrier. He really likes sitting upright so he likes the chair a lot. I don't generally use it for more then 5-10mins at a time, max.
I'd say get one, but don't pay full price - look on Craigslist or something.
(PS - I NEVER leave him anywhere but on the floor, he was just on the bed for this pic to send to DH )
@elyse05 a lot of the controversial things are ones you probably shouldn't be doing anyway. Like leaving your baby in it unsupervised, especially on a counter or table. Or leaving them in it for very extended periods of time, which can lead to issues with their hips. We use it for short periods of time on the floor. Ds likes to sit, so it is fun for him.

Oh I agree! Just thought I'd put it out there that there is some controversy over it. I'm not one of those crazy people who are all "if you use it your child is ruined!" I just a read a few things and thought "Eh, we have enough baby devices anyway. I'm gonna skip this one."

Okay thanks for all the answers. The bean is a chunk so probably would fit in it anyways and I looked up all the good and bad from dr. Google and I think we r just going to skip this one. Thanks for all the help ladies! Did everyone have a good weekend?
We have one, and Eva loves it! Ours was a gift that came with the tray attachment, and we plan on using it for when she starts eating oats. My mom went out and bought one at a consignment shop for like 5 bucks also! And as far as chubby babies not fitting in it, I don't think that is necessarily true. My 17 month old niece climbed in the other day, and she fits just fine!
Marnie liked the bumbo. I'm sure we're bad parents, but once she had good head and neck control, we would put her in there on the dining room table while we ate dinner (always supervised). She loved being part of it.
Amanda isn't strong enough for it yet, so no judgement there yet.
Also, as for chubby babies, Marnie STILL sits in the bumbo occasionally, and she's almost 2.5.
