Uncontrollable urge to prepare, anyone else?

I found out last weekend that I'm pregnant and today I have paint chips taped to the wall in the nursery. Oh, and I have my crib and travel system (but I have 90 days to return it if something else comes along).

Has anyone else given in to the uncontrollable urge to prepare for the baby that isn't arriving for about another 8 months!? I feel like I'm crazy. Although thinking back, I planned my wedding a year in advance and I think this is more important.

slow down! getting past 1st tri is the hardest part in pregnancy. You have plenty of time to prepare for the baby. Take the time to research and read reviews on products if you feel the need to do something now.

No. I have no desire to do anything but poop right now.

I occasionally pin stuff to my secret baby board on Pinterest but that's about it.

I would love too but will not do anything until after first trimester is over. I had a loss at 11 1/2 weeks in Feb. so I will not do anything until I am comfortable that all is ok.

I'm with you! I've already gotten my maternity clothes out of the attic and picked out my baby names. These months go by SO FAST! I'd hate to get to the end and think, "Oh crap, I forgot to do that." You're definitely not crazy. Or maybe we both are.

But it's fun to plan, so I don't have any intention of denying myself the pleasure.

I mean if I were to find a super good deal on baby stuff I may go ahead and get it but I'm not planning on buying anything yet. I know what I want and if my mother had her choice I would have everything already but I want to do research on products like the bed and carseats and stuff before I spend the money.

My wheels have been turning but the only actual thing I've done is grab some paint chips while we were at home depot today... just for fun.

We are redoing the bathroom but that was planned. I guess being pregnant is kind of pushing us to do it faster, though.

No way. I'm absolutely sure I'd see something in the next eight months that I liked better and regret my purchase! I think painting sounds kind of fun though:)

I feel like I should start doing something but don't know what exactly to start with. We just told our parents so I definetly took another ride on the emotional rollercoaster!

I have been the exact way. We have already started to buy diapers, Since they go through so many. And I can't wait to buy baby stuff. It is almost all I can think about. I love going to stores and looking in the baby section and looking at all the tiny clothes. But that is just me.

Its such an exciting time and I am going to let myself be excited and prepare all I want. I want to get the entire experience of preparing to be a mom

Not at all ..... My focus right now is to keep this baby inside me. I will start after Christmas. I've had a 14 week loss and 10 1/2 week loss.

Prepare all you want is all I will say. It's your baby so do what you want! If we had a bigger place and were going to be stayih here I would prolly start painting

We aren't doing anything until at least 12 weeks...1 because we aren't telling anyone until then and 2 because we won't feel comfy buying anything until the risk is lower. Do I/we WANT to do all of these things now...absolutely, but we just can't, I couldn't look at anything if it went the wrong way. I wish I didn't think like that

We won't do anything until I'm out of first tri. With my first pregnancy I came home from work one day and DH has the nursery set up, painted and everything. I was only 16 weeks pregnant at the time. It's DH I need to tell to hold his horses. But this time it's more just getting organized for #2.

I started de-cluttering my office today. Definitely feeling a little of the "nesting" urge. With that said, I can't bring myself to plan or prep for baby specifically. I'm too worried something might happen and any planning and prepping will make it even harder.

Nope. With my first pregnancy we did everything during that sweet spot of second trimester where I wasn't horribly sick. I'm guessing it'll be the same this time around.

Honestly, not really. Besides wanting to wait until I get out of 1st tri, coupled with the whole Jewish superstition we will likely have nothing in the house until baby arrives, we just don't roll that way. The closest we will get is clearing out the second bedroom to prepare for DD's new big girl room. But that's a ways off - it hasn't happened in the five years we've lived here, so I don't see it being a quick process.

Not actually doing anything for the baby but I've been de-cluttering big time. I've donated no short of 8 full bags of clothes in the last two weeks and have a shit-ton of stuff on craigslist. I guess I realize this baby will eventually need some space...

Ditto to the secret boards on PInterest. I've organized the spare bedroom but that's mainly because I couldn't look at the clutter any longer. I'll start doing more once 2nd tri rolls around. For now, I'm just concentrating on having a few more good appointments and figuring out when / how we'll tell our family and friends.

I feel ya! I want to do everything so bad in my spurts or energy between complete and utter exhaustion... but because we're foster parents the nursery is already painted and the crib is up. So, I'm just trying to focus on making it thru the first trimester so we can tell our friends and families! We've been TTC for 51 months so lots of time spent in prayer that this baby sticks.

I have the urge to start, but I am restraining until after I get through my first trimester. I hate to be the debbie downer, but I would be completely heart broken if anything happened to the baby during the first trimester and I had a ton of baby stuff in our house...I don't think I could handle it. I'm also SO tired I can't even think about all the things there are to do. I want to save all of the planning for the 2nd and 3rd trimesters.

Not this early but as soon as we have the ultrasound at 20-22 weeks then I'll probably kick into full gear. Last time the car seat wasn't in the car and my bag wasn't packed yet so I'll be better prepared for an early delivery

With my first pregnancy, my doc gave me a bag full of baby stuff at my 1st appointment. That bag was SO HARD to look at when my pregnancy ended a week later.

I have the need, but I/we have been focusing on doing all the other stuff that needs to get done around the house ASAP. For instance, I am putting in built in bookshelves on a 20 ft wall in the hallway, getting the part for the toilet so that the handle doesn't stick all the time, cleaning out the bedrooms/closets, and getting new windows in the bedrooms.

That being said - I did buy a high chair. I found it at a used baby store, and it was the exact model I wanted (I knew from my sister) and it was in the colors that matched my kitchen. Gender neutral. Also, less than half price. I couldn't pass it up, and would have most likely bought it if we were still TTC too (for my 1 year old niece I babysit every Saturday too, I have been looking for something cheap for her, feeding her on my lap is tiring and messy).

I love this cuz as soon as we found out I wanted to go out shopping for everything! Lol.. But after some restraint... I ended up getting a bigger car instead! Lol... I felt like I had to get something for baby and thought a "mommy car" was the best choice! Its OK ... we're all a little crazy!

I desperately want to, but I'm way too afraid of a possible loss and don't want the reminders. I have been pinning secretly and I'm working on figuring out a color scheme for the nursery only because we have a painter coming in to finish up our house by the end of December. I've considered buying one little thing as a little momento or keepsake (kind of a family tradition) but at 7 weeks I'm still a little nervous about it.

We cleared out the nursery and bought paint. That is all I have done. If my first ultrasound goes well I will look into what black friday deals are out there for baby furniture.

The biggest problem right now is finances. New house, new baby...it's a lot. This baby will have bedroom furniture long before we do, and we will definitely be squeezing a car seat into our tiny cars.
