How much would you pay?

My MIL made this custom table fort to fit over our kitchen table. It has "doors" on each end that can be zipped closed or rolled/velcroed back like a tent. It has four windows that also Velcro open or closed. Inside there are four pockets for whatever the kids want to use them for; Ben calls them mail boxes. I think it's really freaking awesome and she should sell them but she thinks I'm crazy. How much would you pay for something like this? Assuming you'd be interested at all. She could easily use different fabrics to make it look more like a play house or princess castle or whatever. What says J12? Could she make some money off of this?

  • I think that's really neat! I would totally buy something like that because it's so easy to fold up & store. I would say I would pay no more than $50.

  • Thanks ladies! @britbratjf that's my favorite part about it! My kids have a nice sized, indoor play fort, and it takes up NONE of my floor space! Fold and put away when we're done, get out again tomorrow. So much more practical than the tent style ones out there!

  • Tell her to take a look on Etsy... I've seen similar table cover tents there and she should be able to get a nice look at prices and what's out there.  Cute!

  • $50-75.  $50 for a basic square table, no decorations, closer to $75 for a bigger table with more detailing, etc.  Probably even more than that for custom orders!

  • I love it.  I would buy something like that for LO.  I would think 30-50 dollars would be a good range.  The price would be comparable with the size of the table.  A smaller table would use less fabric so $30 ish would be a decent price.  A larger table could be$50+ ish.
  • Awesome Idea! I say 50 too

  • I agree with the others, I think that is an awesome idea!

  • So neat! I am usually cheap about stuff or try to figure out how to make it myself, but I'd say maybe $25-$30? Depends on what it is made out of I guess. If its a nice fabric I might pay more.

I think she could definitely sell them! The question would be whether the time and cost to make it is worth it.

  • Obviously I'm way cheap....just read the other responses. I agree, it does depend on the table size though!

  • I was going to say about $50-75 too, depending on the size. I don't know how much of a profit she could turn after buying materials and her time, but might be worth a shot. It is a very cool idea... I might steal this one :)
